I have looked at our OOC schedule for this upcoming year, and it doesn't look all that challenging overall. Here it is:

2/19/16 vs. Purdue Russ Chandler Stadium 4:00 p.m. ET 20-34 6-17 9TH (OUT OF 13)
2/20/16 vs. Western Michigan Russ Chandler Stadium 2:00 p.m. ET 22-30 12-12
2/21/16 vs. VCU Russ Chandler Stadium 1:00 p.m. ET 40-25 14-10 2ND (OUT OF 13)
2/24/16 at Georgia Southern TV Statesboro, Ga. 6:00 p.m. ET 30-27 18-12 7TH (OUT OF 11)
2/26/16 vs. UMBC Russ Chandler Stadium 4:00 p.m. ET 34-20 13-10 2ND (OUT OF 7)
3/1/16 vs. Georgia State Russ Chandler Stadium 4:00 p.m. ET 30-27 15-13 6TH (OUT OF 11)
3/4/16 vs. Western Carolina Russ Chandler Stadium 4:00 p.m. ET 21-30 11-13 3RD (OUT OF 9)
3/8/16 at Auburn TV Auburn, Ala. 36-26 13-17 7TH (OUT OF 7)
4/5/16 at Mercer Macon, Ga. 6:00 p.m. ET 35-23 16-7 1ST (OUT OF 9) NCAA TOURNEY PICK
4/6/16 vs. Kennesaw State Russ Chandler Stadium 6:00 p.m. ET 28-258 10-10
4/12/16 vs. Georgia TV Russ Chandler Stadium 6:00 p.m. ET 26-28 10-19 7TH (OUT OF 7)
4/29/16 vs. Coastal Carolina TV Russ Chandler Stadium 7:00 p.m. ET 39-20 17-7 1ST (OUT OF 11) NCAA TOURNEY PICK
5/10/16 vs. Savannah State Russ Chandler Stadium 4:00 p.m. ET 21-33 12-12

I don't know how to get the format right, but we play only two teams projected to make the NCAA Tourney (remember, OOC ONLY), Our two SEC foes are both projected to finish last in their respective divisions of the SEC. Most of the rest appear to be...well, I won't say easy because in baseball every game can be tough...but let's say "winnable".

Sorry, my previous post was hurried and poorly edited....the data shown is not just the schedule, but it includes at the end the team's record last year, their conference record last year, and their projected finish this year (as defined by D1Baseball.com) and whether they are expected to be an NCAA Tourney pick in 2016.

So, for example, on the first line, we open with Purdue, who was 20-34 last year overall, 6-17 in the Big Ten (sic), and they are projected this year to finish 9th in their conference (out of 13 teams) and not to get an NCAA bid. (NB-Some conference previews have not yet been posted by D1baseball.com, hence some teams don't yet have a projection for 2016 listed)

In my Excel spreadsheet this was much easier to see, but the formatting got lost in the cut and paste, so it comes across jumbled.

Probably because we play 6 teams in the pre-season top 25? http://www.d1baseball.com/rankings/2016-d1baseball-preseason-top-25/
Among our OOC teams, only Coastal Carolina is ranked. VCU, Ga Southern and KSU always play us close and are good teams. Georgia too play us close even in their down years.. We probably got into most of these OOC agreements a while ago so it was not possible to predict most if not all were having down years.

UMBC (America East) will one of most worthy non-conference opponents. Conrad Wozniak, is their best pitcher a long with Matt Chanin. Both voted first Team. Others are (IF) Hunter Doshun, Anthony Gatto, Kevin LaChance; (OF) Andrew Casali and (UTIL) Jamie Switalski

VCU (Atlantic 10) has two second team players in (IF) Matt Davis and (OF) Logan Farrar

Auburn and Georgia have one each second team (IF) Melvin Gray and (OF) Stephen Wrenn

Southern Conference will not be a push over either. You have field player of the year (OF) Kyle Lewis and a freshman Conard Broom both Mercer a long with first team (IF) Matt Meeder. Western Carolina first team (OF) Matt Smith and second teams (IF) Danny Bermudez, (OF) Kramer Ferrell

Sun Belt- you have first team (P), Georgia Southern) Evan Challenger, (IF)(OF), Georgia ST) Joey Roach and Ryan Blanton. Two others to watch are (IF) Justin Jones from ST and Ryan Cleveland from Southern.

I know I'm missing on some players from other schools but this is the only time I have had to post.

One game at a time! Thanks for the good post.

A lot of ranking is depth. If the opposing team is willing to throw their ace against us mid-week, then that helps their chances. I may be misremembering, but I think that happened last year.

Regardless, bring 'em on:mad:
