This. For all of our talk of being a run first team, we had trouble just running the ball for short yards in critical situations. Is it because of our small RBs? Blocking scheme? I don't know.

Shotgun formation and snap .... QB has to run 9 yards to gain 1.

I agree, Good positive post.
A telling sign will be how the AD handles other schools coming for Faulkner or Santucci with more money for lateral moves. I don't mind so much if Faulkner or Santucci take Head Coaching jobs at another school, but to leave for more money at the same position will be a barometer. That will tell me how serious we are to compete with the Big Boys.

I agree losing either would be an issue. But my guess is Key has plan Bs for both coordinator positions and other position coaches as well. He has been on multiple staffs and has good knowledge of which ones will be on board with his game plan strategies.

I will never understand why Thacker was retained, but I am not surprised at the improvement we have made on defense since the departure. I am excited about the future. Go Jackets.

Yup. I always forget about ST FEI. Definitely a big factor in winning close games.

It seems like even that was getting much better the last 3-4 games of the season

You need a better option before firing someone. Key revamped the offense in year 1. The defense in year 2. Hopefully Special Teams in year 3.

I really disliked the run out of shotgun on 3rd/4th and short - especially with Zach because everyone knew exactly what was coming.
If you are going to basically broadcast what you are doing at least go under center and use the tush push.
