That's bonkers. 25th percentile SAT is approaching 1,400 (on the old 1,600 scale), and the admission rate is down about 40% in three years. I wonder how many of us would have gotten in if these admissions standards were in place when we applied. I'm not so sure I would have.

Also, this really highlights the academic burden athletes face, as they must compete academically with these all-stars. I already respected the hell out of them, now even more so, particularly when they could have gone to another school and coasted.

Yeah, I think the old way was better: easier to get in and harder to get out. It's harder for blue collar guys to come in and prove themselves.

Difficult to do now.

We are getting nearly 30k applications. Back then probably less than 10k, maybe even 5k...
