Paul Johnson has done such a good job there. Why doesn’t he get more attention for his coaching success? Is it just the system he runs?

Bowden: I’m sure that’s it. I love to see wishbone teams play. When Auburn ran it, when Alabama ran it -- I’d love to watch them, just the way their plays unfold. And nobody has a better feel for that than Paul. He’s done it all his life. If something doesn’t go, he knows where to go next, and it’s just beautiful watching the way his plays unravel."

It can't hurt that he got to witness first hand how devastating and demoralizing our offense can be. That 2009 game, when he rallied the troops and the whole FSU team came out locking arms in solidarity, was one of our greatest offensive games I've seen us play. Every time they thought they might be able to get an edge, we came storming back and scored quick TDs to stay in control. Then there was the Nesbitt strip of a returned fumble...that was a KILLER because they turned a 3rd & long turnover into a 1st & 10 for us. I can't even imagine what their defensive players were feeling in that moment.

That was one of those "do you remember where you were when you watched that happen" moments. What a rollercoaster ride that whole game was, which kind of matched the season. The crushing loss at Miami, the crazy Klempsun Thursday night white-out win, the F$U game, the solid win over #4 VPI, the OT win over Wake, the crushing UGA loss at home, the 2nd crazy win over Klempsun & CJ Spiller in the ACC CG, and the OB disappointment against Iowa's stout D.

One of the things I've enjoyed the most about Johnson's tenure is that when we've won the other team often feels like they've just been run over by a dump truck or a tank. They aren't taken out by a sniper round or some kind of fancy high tech weapon, they are literally beaten to a bloody mess and left to die. They see it coming, the fear builds and agony ensues.

At the Orange Bowl it was great listening to the Miss St fans maoning about what we were about to do to them. "Here they come, another run to the right, can't we effin' put someone over there?".... "It's gonna be another effin' run, can't we just put everyone on the line of scrimmage and try to stop these guys?", etc.

Other games I swear I saw with my own eyes the other team's defense running away from the play to avoid contact. And you guys wonder why the Braun boy wants to come here. What other offense in the country are the offensive lineman trained to go out and hunt down the defense?

Thursday night can't get here soon enough. Go Jacketss!!!!!

Along the same lines... I think 92.9 was interviewing a UGA insider when I turned on the car radio this morning. The host asked about potential for defensive improvement in 2015. The insider responded with a quote from a UGA DL on 2014, specifically the GT game - "we knew what they were going to do and couldn't stop it". While I question the validity of the first half of the comment, it's safe to say the latter half is true.

Listen! And understand! That Terminator Option is out there. It can't be bargained with! It can't be reasoned with! It doesn't feel pity, or remorse, or fear. And it absolutely will not stop, ever, until you are dead!

I've told my football crazy wife at many football games that I have never seen anything eat the heart out of a defense like CPJ's offense when it is rolling. I cannot imagine how badly I would feel if CPJ had gone to UNC or Duke or UVA and we had to face this soul killing machine every year.

Interesting that with all the buzz about Bob Stitt and his fly option play that blew out Clemson in the OB, people still refer to his offense as "the fly option", so he can't escape the simple mention. Even though he says he may run it 1-2 times a game. I don't remember seeing it at all against North Dakota State Saturday.
