We certainly need to play better than we did in Boulder. It's hard to know whether we progressed in week two.

The consistency we need if we're going to be a top team has been missing the last 2-3 years. It's not just this game that's important, but the entire season. Winning this one means nothing if we can't win these next bunch of games. We have the talent at the skill positions to play with anyone. If the OL and the entire D can elevate their game just a bit I think we can win this game. We'll see if we're there or still have a ton to do.

Most people have much more confidence in the offensive line and the defense than I have. I have been very disappointed in the offensive line especially. I was under the impression it was to be a strength on this team. Their performance thus far can charitably be described as adequate. My real complaint on defense has been the lack of pressure on opposing quarterbacks (I know they got six sacks against G-W but please)

On the other hand, that play after Tech had scored to take the lead against Colorado with 1:30 left in the game was special. Colorado did the quick pass into the flats that had worked well for them the whole game and the Tech man put on a clinic on how to tackle in open space. Beautifully done with no falling forward, no getting to the sideline, no nothing. Just man to man perfectly done that in my mind was the game winner. IIWII

Alas, I can see a way for us to get beat pretty bad...come out and do the turnover thing. We got away with that against Prime and his clown show but the Tigers would make us pay big time. My biggest concern is that it is possible that Clemson came out flat against Troy as the result of a physical and exhausting game against the Bayou Tigers and took them a half to right the ship with the help of two gift interceptions and an ill conceived fake field goal try by Troy. To win, Tech needs to be much sharper than they have been thus far. We will see.

Oh, there is absolutely no quit in this team. They play for the school hard. They play for their coaches even harder. But most of all they play for each other the hardest. They remind me a lot of the Tech teams under Dodd. They played hard but clean from the get go and almost never beat themselves. Though we tried to give that game away in Boulder but that may have been first game jitters and being caught up in the usual Prime Time circus atmosphere. Someone posted that the percentages of a team giving away a 3-0 turnover ratio winning the game anyway was LESS than 1%. Somehow, we managed it. That game in Boulder was one of the most surreal things I have ever witnessed. Part football, part circus, part reality show, all Prime Time and everything that comes with it.

I dont want to discount Colorado's D-line as those guys looked good. Maybe our Oline did not dominate but held their own against good competition. The Right side of the Oline did dominate. The left side had more issues. I am more concerned about the left side of the O-line. The right side is one of the best in all of FBS football in my opinion

Yep you are right about the right side. I happened to be looking at a condensed game version of the Tech -GW game and Rutledge looked like Stone Mountain next to G-W players and he can move for a big player. The guy next to him Manley? He is very good as well. Big, tough, strong, and mean. Good qualities. The left side? Not so much. I have no idea what to do about center. One guy looks like the Pillsbury Dough boy and is slow as Christmas but hikes the ball well. The other guy is fast, ridiculously athletic for a 300 pounder but was erratic with hikes.

The left side also did not grade out very well from a PFF perspective. Maybe we should have had 520 yards rushing had the left side played as well as the right side.

I’m a little worried my left arm is sore and that is the one I hold my beer when I drink. (I think I can drink through the pain) I guess I should rest the next few days.

I got a Covid shot Monday (yes, I’m old enough). The pharmacist who gave the shot asked which arm I preferred. When I said it didn’t matter, she said, “ This may make you sore for a couple of days. Which is your drinking arm?” I said “right”, so she gave the shot in my left.

Most of those happened when Tech was unranked but a dangerous team which Clemson discovered to their discomfiture. The one that really stands out was 2011 when Tevin Washington had the game of his life God bless him. The Tigers were actually in a state of shock.

28-6 was an impressive showing but 31-17 was a massive upset and boyd played every down there was no what if injury to watson.
