Billy Shaw, an all-time AFL great guard who powered the Bills' famed rushing attack of the 1960s, died Friday. He was 85.

Only got to be in the same room once with Billy at a spring 2019 meeting of Dodd's Boys where we Carson's Refugees got invited... he was still a big dude with a great big GT ring.

1964-1965 Bills were AFL champions when Shaw was opening holes for another Tech legend, Joe Auer.

Played in the College All-Star Game in 1960:
The College All-Star Team that year played the Philadelphia Eagles. "I was scared to death,” Shaw recalled about playing the NFL champion Eagles in the annual All-Star contest. "I was up against Ed Khayat, a Mississippi boy who later finished his career with Boston (Patriots). I thought this might ease the tension a bit since he might take it easier on me. It was just the opposite. He turned me every way but loose.” Shaw played an amazing game, actually knocking the wind out of Eagle linebacker Maxie Baughan.
