Really nice to see Mannelly seemingly turn things around this year. He struggled pretty much all last season. And Busse looks like a great add. Can’t remember the last time we had a shutdown closer (maybe all the way back to Wieters?).

Nice to get the midweek win. Pitching was excellent (18 Ks!) And the offense came to play. This is the kind of start we need to the week.

Reading between the lines in the post game presser it sounds like the plan was to just go one inning for some live competition before getting back in the rotation for this weekend's series. My guess is we will see Schmolke, Finley and McGuire in that order. If Logan has the same kind of stuff and the other two pitch like last weekend we could be onto something for the remainder of the season. Of course those are big IFs. This would then move Brown back to the midweek starts or long relief.
