“I told [the team] it’s the toughest schedule I’ve ever been involved with, and that’s fine,” Brown said. “It’s what it is and it’s not changing. So let’s not gripe about it, let’s go play it. And it won’t be mentioned again after today, because they know that we’ve got our hands full. GameDay coming to South Carolina game is huge, season tickets are sold out. I’m so excited. We’re in a great place to take another step and now we’ve just go to do it.”
The worst part about this is that the press picked it up and ran with it. I believe I recall a number of articles from the start of the season that mentioned Mack Brown decrying UNC's tough nonconference schedule. All of them seemed to tacitly acknowledge his claim by not actually looking at UNC's schedule and calling the question, but just reporting on the statement and letting it sit there. For anyone not aware...
After years of Charmin soft non-conference schedules, North Carolina HC Mack Brown has pounded his chest this year about his team's schedule that includes Minnesota (4-3), South Carolina (2-5) and App State (3-4).
In the preseason he said: https://www.on3.com/college/north-c...ore-non-conference-national-television-games/
Despite saying unequivocally that "it won't be mentioned again after today," Mack Brown stated during his post-Minnesota game, on-field interview that "unlike us, nobody plays a tough nonconference schedule anymore" (paraphrased).
So much in there to pick apart...
As crazy as it is, I think we have some kind of magic on our side. Somehow, we have UNC's number, and have beaten a ranked UNC two years in a row now. After losing to Virginia, they will either be super hungry for a win, especially since they haven't beat us in so long, but maybe a demoralizing loss like that is enough to get in their heads and play worse.I would feel much more comfortable if this was an away game, or at least if they were wearing black. They are ranked though…
I wish I had your confidence. I want to, but my head won't let me. Perhaps if we hadn't been steamrolled by BC in the 4th qtr, I would be more excited. As crazy as it is, I think we have some kind of magic on our side. Maybe he can give CBK and CBF some tips.Dang, CPJ was 8-3 in HC games. None of them were Sisters of the Poor that teams use schedule for HC games.
CPJ will be in attendance so our chances of winning is higher...
