They are afraid. My understanding is if you put a coach on blast you lose the connection of being an "insider". If you pitch them softballs then you can gain more info about other stuff. I personally want it to be a gauntlet of being put on blast. Asking why are the coaches incompetent? How come after 5 games not a single player can wrap up? How do you defend your status as HC after losing to Bowling Green? What's your detailed plan to correcting it?What I can't understand is why the reporters won't just come out and ask Key how he is addressing the poor tackling & defensive players being out of position & what adjustments (if any?) are being made at half time? It seems these questions would be fair to ask!?!?!
Ken actually did ask him a pretty blunt question the other day — I think he felt empowered because he’s not on the beat anymore. It was refreshing. Even Key was slightly caught off guard and responded by immediately mentioning Ken wasn’t around much anymore and wouldn’t know Key wasn’t on social media and therefore doesn’t hear the external noise. They are afraid. tech media has been soft for well over a decade. johnson and collins always got soft balls too. i think that’s just the way our reporters do thingsWhat I can't understand is why the reporters won't just come out and ask Key how he is addressing the poor tackling & defensive players being out of position & what adjustments (if any?) are being made at half time? Soooooooo what unis we wearing?
The only qualm I have about this statement is, at present day, the CGC and CBK eras should be lumped into one. Now I want to vomitThe problem with the questions is all the "I am curious", "I have been wondering", "how do you fell about". Very unprofessional sounding and usually have no real substance. Questions should be short and direct to the point about specific issues. The questioners seem to be first justifying their status to ask questions. This is almost as painful listening to those dumb questions as it was watching GT football during the previous coaching era. There are meaningful questions that can be asked without attacking the coach or player, but can get to some substance. of interest
Really obvious with Key’s answer about Dontae that Dontae’s just 3rd string/far behind the other two. IIWII, I guess

BS.
This one setback, as embarrassing as it is, does not in any way lump this season / team / staff into the 3.3 years of ineptitude under Collins.
Ultimately, Key might fail to turn this around and history will view it as part of a 6-7 year debacle spanning both coaches, but not today. Not yet.
I’m fine with that line of thinking, only if we then don’t use the excuse that Key is trying to rid the team of CGC’s stink after a loss like BGSU.BS.
