It was easy to lose sight of why FSU scheduled The Citadel.

Seminoles coach Jimbo Fisher was clearly agitated following the Seminoles’ 37-12 win over its FCS opponent in September. Seemingly one after another, members of an already thin defensive line were cut down by lower-leg injuries. Some of the injuries occurred because of cut blocks, or even illegal chop blocks, which are part of the blocking scheme used in The Citadel’s triple-option offense

We don't injure players by blocking them, but if FSU wants to worry about that, let them. And I hope they all think our offense is "all tricks."

Jimbo Fisher, in his press conference made a few relevant comments (paraphrasing):
1) They scheduled Citadel deliberately to get some practice in case they play Tech.
2) He vehemently defended cut blocking, and said that banning cut blocking would essentially kill the running game in football. He also added that while it is possible to cut illegally, looking at GT tape we cut quite cleanly and he isn't concerned about injuries because of our cut blocking.
