Do I have the bye weeks right? I guess they consider a canceling byes equal. UNC faces no byes on our side of the ACC

  • Duke bye before GT
  • VT bye before GT
  • GT bye before VT
  • Miami bye before BC
  • Virginia bye before Miami
  • UNC bye before VT
  • Pitt bye before Duke

Game before our game
  • Duke has a bye... Duke has the schedule advantage.
  • Pitt has Pen State while GT faces USF... I think this is a toss up.
  • UNC plays Virginia and GT plays VT but has a few extra days... Slight advantage GT
  • VT and GT have a bye... toss up
  • Miami plays Duke and GT has UNC... toss up
  • Virginia has Liberty and GT has Miami... advantage Virginia
Most fair schedule in a while., but no other team on our side faces two byes.

Last year the odds on us continually having the most unfavorable schedule was on the order of about 10 million to 1. Probably multiply that by another 25 or 50 now. It’s really absurd the ACC can’t even generate a random schedule. It actually takes work to figure out how to do this every year.

Yep we got screwed once again, even after they supposedly fixed it. 2 byes before us plus Liberty/FCS. It’s totally ridiculous that the ACC does this every year. The ACC sucks. This is CPJs 11th year - his ACC opposition should have had 11 byes - but they will have had 22. TWENTY-TWO. Friggin stupid.

I know that ACC head office claims that when making scheduling requests, teams are not allowed to ask for byes before particular opponents. Given the disproportionate number of times that our opponents—and particularly, the two "favored sons" of Duke and Carolina—have had byes before they played us, I don't buy the ACC's claim one bit.

We had a thread on this back before the schedule was released. Each team already had a few blanks filled in, such as Clemson vs Georgia Southern, Virginia vs Liberty - you could pretty much predict we would get screwed on Bye Weeks again and that we would be the team each of those teams would play after those opponents. The week Virginia plays Liberty, that is the ONLY FCS opponent in the ACC - so of course we drew them as the opponent the following week. I mean, in that previous thread we were all laughing like you KNOW that it will be Georgia Tech who gets slotted in that following week...and we were.

When you hit a 1 in 50 chance for 11 straight years, its pretty obvious what's going on.

Agree:
One note: Pitt / Penn State GT / USF would be advantage GT.
Pitt is really looking foreword to Penn St matchup. Penn St top 10 team, top QB, etc.

Would really love if Pitt won a really emotional game overtime game w/ Penn State and then had just zero way of emotionally showing up to the game against us ;)

Or more likely they get totally embarrassed by Penn State on national TV and approach the game against us with a huge chip on their shoulder

I think some of y'all just want to be butthurt. If anyone in the ACC had a clue they'd hope for a bye before Clemson. You know, the team that's actually been winning a lot of games lately.

But look at the schedule, basically they tried to put all of the bye weeks in the middle of the season for everyone. For some teams it's a week early and others a week late. BC/Louisville is the only game that could be a week later if they wanted.

Pitt plays Penn State the week before and UNC the week after. Nothing there, maybe advantage us if USF is as bad as we think they might be. Call it half an advantage.

Clemson plays GSU right before us - is that advantage Clemson for getting into the option mindset or advantage us because we can scout them? I call it a wash.

Louisville plays FSU while we play a cupcake. Advantage us.

Duke gets a bye before us. Advantage them. I think we are going to destroy them this year regardless, but whatever.

VT is a wash cause we both get bye weeks before the game.

UNC plays UVA before, nothing there.

Miami plays Duke before us.

Virginia plays a cupcake before our game, maybe half an advantage there?

So if you add it all up in terms of us having advantage verse the other teams having one, it's a wash for the season.

If anyone has a reason to gripe about this year's schedule it's VT. They play a Duke team coming off a cupcake, Notre Dame, UNC coming off a bye, then GT after we've both had byes.

I don't see anyone's schedule I really think is super easy - some of the ACC teams don't have big OOC rivals, but that's about it. In years past, yes, we got screwed cause a third or more of the teams we played scheduled their bye week before us. This year? It's pretty fair everywhere.

You are quite brave, @wreckrod ...your conclusion that the ACC is fair in its scheduling will be met with hyperbolic fury & glorious cherry-picking to refute your ridiculous (tic) claim. It simply cannot be true the ACC has more to worry about in putting a schedule together than sticking it to Ga Tech. (y)

Most fair schedule we have had in years...and years.

Duh U is the pre-season favorite. If the ACC didn’t build them any scheduling advantages it would break a huge precedent. Now I’ll have to go look.

Color me surprised. Not much to see. Their cupcakes are 3 in a row but no bye advantages. If they beat LSU they will probably be ranked top 5 after finishing off FIU.

we play VT on thursday. That is why we have a bye before them and they have a bye before us. ACC practice is to try to schedule thursday games where both teams have equal rest.

Since 2008, what is our record vs teams with a bye before playing us?

And what is our record vs teams we had a bye before playing?

Anyone, thanks.
