You guys are going to feel soooooooooooooo silly when, of course, CPJ goes all pre-1930s on everyone, and he calls on Parker Braun for a guard-around run. Here's the wrinkle: TaQuon trails Braun, and as Braun is about to be tackled, he laterals to TaQuon who proceeds to burst by the stunned defense.

Hey, football fantasy is fun.

;)

[ From one of the earliest football treatises, before the requirement to have seven players on the offensive line:

A statue of liberty play or a single wing dive play would be nice;)

Actually, one feature of the single-wing offense I, as a mere fan, would love to see used is the old buck-lateral play, "buck" being the old term for "dive" today. In the buck-lateral, the running back with the ball plunges into the line, but immediately beforehand laterals or hands the ball to another offensive back. (Of course, single-wing attacks had the center direct-snapping to a running back, but the buck-lateral tactic certainly could be modified for a QB-under-center formation.) I'm no coach or former player, but to this football layperson, it seems to me that using a buck-lateral at least once or twice a game, establishing it as a threat, might cool the heels of aggressive defenses just a little bit. ( Somebody else, quick, go run this notion by CPJ. Insert laughter here.)

The power sweep also came out of the single wing offense.

I think we will be pretty vanilla with the offense during this game. No disrespect to Alcorn State, but a bigger game will be at USF. Benson will get the first carry. I hope several of the walk-on kids will get some PT during the second half. Who is our 5th team QB?

Here is a little info on Alcorn State. They have played well in their conference.
