The regular season has come to an end. There might be conference championships left to play, and a College Football Playoff to determine, but the only playoffs that matter have already been decided. NINE power 5 teams finished in the bottom 25 which i think is an all time record. GT finished at #14.

Just checking common opponents; the only ones that exist were Georgia playing against Vanderbilt too. They lost 30-6, we lost 52-7, but! FPI game score has us very similar, implying that the difference in final is because Georgia played better against us than against Vanderbilt, not that we played worse than Vanderbilt did. Even.

Rutgers played Boston College and lost 30-16. We played two teams with the same conference and overall record: Miami and UNC. Average result between those two, 4 point loss. Favorites.

Arkansas played LSU and Alabama, and you could say that either one is comparable to Georgia. They lost to Alabama 48-7, and lost to LSU 56-20. Even.

If the loser of each game is the one that advances, then Rutgers would lose to Tech and advance to the Bottom Bowl, then Vanderbilt would lose to Arkansas [both struggled vs. Ole Miss, but Arkansas was competitive vs. Kentucky while Vanderbilt was not], and the matchup for worst P5 team would be Rutgers vs. Vanderbilt.

No common opponents, Vanderbilt played Purdue and lost by 18, who is closest in conf. and overall record to Michigan State and Maryland. Rutgers lost by 27 and 41, and wins the honor of being the worst P5 team.

But hey, maybe Schiano will be able to turn things around there.

If we use Sagarins ratings to determine the playoff results, the race to the bottom would be as follows:
FBS
Akron loses to Old Dominion by 10
Umass loses to UTEP by 8
Umass loses to Akron by 3
UMass is worst of all FBS

P5
Rutgers loses to GaTech by 7
Ark loses to Vandy by 1
Rutgers loses to Vandy by 7
Rutgers is worst of P5

Rutgers will bounce back with GS back at the helm. I've always heard New Jersey produces pretty good talent and if Rutgers could just keep a little in state, they would win.

Georgia Tech would stomp a mudhole in Akron,UMass,UTEP and Old Dominion and i also think GT would beat Rutgers,Arkansas and Vanderbilt.

Interesting tidbit - the 9-3 Coastal Division Champion Virginia was losing to Old Dominion at home until 10 minutes left in the game. Go Coastal!
