But his contract runs through 1/1/2027. The way I read it if he leaves at any point before then he owes Tech 100% his base salary. I don’t know how he can argue this one.
I haven’t read it, so I’ll assume you are correct. I just thought the amount owed might vary depending on how many years were left and what your end date was.

But we should get a chunk of change back in the budget one way or another.

And btw, I think it’s more than just his agent. I’m guessing he had been talking with them as well. I can’t imagine these guys have single one-hour interviews and land these jobs. It’s likely a multi interview process that spans weeks. He would likely have talked to the HC before the university. But then imagine the conversations that this creates within your family. I mean there’s no way this stuff doesn’t affect an individual with such a significant scope for which he’s responsible.

At the end of the day, he’s got to do what he thinks is best for him and his family though. He’s just going to have to pay us the money he owes us as part of that process.
Oh, he’ll argue it but may not win. I’m almost done with CFB.

We keep saying that, don’t we. It’s like we are on some weird survivor reality TV show. We know it’s stupid, hyped, and partially rigged (hence “reality” is a misnomer) but we hang in there just a little bit longer because, as much as we hate it and think it’s crap, our guy still might have a chance. But, I swear, if this game continues to be rigged by the billionaire programs, and we slide back into mediocrity, I won’t be watching.

It appears that if you are an AD, the better jobs are not at places that advertise 1 in every 2, 3, 4 or 5 graduates become millionaires (I can never remember the denominator here). It's at the ones who can claim that 1 in 1,000,000 grads are billionaires but who care deeply about football and/or athletics.

In the end it’s going to take the combination of our super wealthy alums to find this pay for play scheme. Your run of the mill successful alumni (even the millionaires) won’t really make much of a dent even collectively - and even if they could there is no structured organization that could organize them and make them feel like they were making a difference.

The days of launching an organization called "I Pay Thirty a Year" and knowing it will move the needle seem as outdated now as the horse and carriage or programming with punch cards.

I was giving what was considered "real money" a couple of years ago to GTAA/Tech Way, specifically for football However, given what's happened with NIL inflation, it would barely pay for a 2nd stringer today. There's only so much juice you can squeeze out of alumni UNLESS you find a billionaire unicorn like at Texas Tech. The system is broken, no question.

You need big fish and little fish to make your number.

Thirty isn’t that much after inflation, but you’re a lot more attractive to the big fish if you have a nice stable base.

Look at the top teams for the past decade or so.

It’s the same f’ing teams.

The NFL managed to have a greater variety of teams in the conference champsjips during the 4 team playoff era than CFB did.

And once NIL settles it’s gonna get a lot worse.

I’ve already lost significant interest in CFB only managing to show some interest because I really respect what Keys is doing given the **** show preceding him.

But it’s very hard to see how interest in CFB can be sustained if you’re not a supporter of the 1-2 dozen top teams.

This is just absolutely ignoring the changes the combination of the expanded playoff, portal and NIL have done. There have been a record of one score games the last three years. The game has never been more competitive. The literal worst program in CFB history(by winning %) is currently ranked #1 and will have gone to the playoffs both times since expansion and very well could win it this year. There will be some regulation for these things, but the future for college football as a whole has never looked brighter.

explains why his gameplan, playcalling, and adjustments were straight azz vs. uga

Because he wants to stay on the giid side if Kirby so when Bobo leaves/retires, he can go back to the dawgs as their OC. This is what his move to Gainesville is all about so he gains some SEC experience so he he is ready for big time football in Athens when the time comes.

So you think Kirby told him to take the job?

He reached a milestone at the end of the regular season where he received $250k. His base salary was raised to $1.25M with the contract extension. Here’s what the AJC says about the rest:

“If Faulkner were to terminate the terms of the agreement prior to the conclusion of the 2025 season (including the postseason), he would owe Tech 100% of his base salary. That percentage then drops to 75% if Faulkner leaves on or before Dec. 31, 2026. He would not owe Tech if he leaves after Dec. 31, 2026, if he accepts a position as an FBS head coach or as an NFL head coach or primary play-calling coordinator.”

So, if he leaves now he owes us $1.25M. If he leaves after the post-season is over he owes us $937,500.

My UF buddy was gloating about poaching Faulkner. After he stopped texting , my only response was, “I hope you guys have a great field goal kicker. You’re gonna need him”
When your offense is largely based on a sideline to sideline concept; which ours was; redzone becomes very very difficult due to the truncated field. We never saw a good power run game nor a good mid range passing attack. All our power runs were king which is not indicative of a good power run game. We routinely struggled at goal line and running backs up the gut when we needed it.

We essentially had Buster for free this year. Good job Tech!
