I don't foresee Buster trying to raid our roster. Buster respects Key too much to poach players from him. Let's not forget, Buster might still be an analyst today for UGA if not for Key, and Key has for the most part given Buster everything he's wanted while at GT.

Coaches on our staff however...

Then he takes a dump on Keys desk. Buster would have gotten a head coaching job if he remained at Tech and we matched his pay. Can’t trust anyone who was once a Dawg

Buster's counter run game is probably the best in college football, maybe even better than half the NFL. That said, I thought we relied on too many screens and east west passing plays as opposed to taking advantage of our WR group and challenging defenses down the field.

Also, if you take King away, our run game wasn't really that impressive.

I wouldn't say DCs "caught up" to Faulkner, but this offense was definitely game planned against better this year.

Faulkner will do well with Lagaway. He's every bit as good as King, but I'm not sure he's as durable.

I understand why Faulkner is doing this. If he can do at UF what he's done at GT, he's going to climb the HC ladder quickly. However, his offense doesn't produce quickly, the rope is really short and the knives come out really fast.

Last year, GT with a harder schedule ended 2024 with the #26 Offensive FEI offense. This season, with a lighter schedule, we ended at #32.

Faulkner was a VERY good OC, but he was by no means elite. There a chance GT does worse with our next OC...but there's a good chance we'll be just fine with the next guy. Key found Buster working in the shadows at UGA, Keys reputation as a HC is much higher now, and our resources are vastly deeper since then.

My gut tells me GT will be just fine.

Well this sucks.
I hate being a stepping stone.
I hate that coaches make moves.before the season is over, not something that teaches these young adults much.

Hopefully we don't get a first year OC.
And hopefully this isn't the reason the offense took a dump during the UGA game

I actually felt like he struggled down the stretch this year. Once the pitch read on the OLB stopped producing we struggled quite a bit on offense. Now, I’m not sure this was all on Buster. Our OL struggled to run block this year. So much so that it seems that we abandoned counter over the past few games.

Sec dominance. Period. Gt and acc stepping stone jobs. Oc to oc. Laughable

I've said for years that GT being left out of the P2 would be detrimental to GT sports. I got a lot of hate for saying that...but we're seeing how much of a detriment being in the ACC is. Not just in media payout, but perceived prestige.

Batt left us for Michigan State, and now Faulkner leaves for a lateral OC job at UF. Are any of jobs really better than GT in terms of the jobs taken themselves? NO...but perception is those two took a "step up" because the jobs were in P2.

Like it or not, when GT decided to turn down the B1G a decade ago, we set ourselves back. I still think we end up in the B1G, but if not, it's not going to be very pretty for GT Athletics.

I view Buster as OC like a marriage. Are we better off with him, or without him? I think better off with him.

I really hope Canion and philo don't leave. I don't think Faulkner will intentionally try to poach them, but they might want to go of their own accord. If they leave we are lowkey screwed for next season unless we spend unlimited money in the portal
Canion was leaving at year’s end independent of Faulkner. Hope I’m wrong, but have heard he has not been happy with his touches.

Philo…I hope he stays.

I hope you’re right
But also- are you saying Lagway is clearly better? You must’ve watched a different Lagway than me this season
Clearly better might be a stretch. Ill just say he is more experienced than Philo, has played in many tough games already against good defenses and has a higher ceiling than Philo. If Buster can improve his consistency and get him playing regularly like he did against Texas then he could quickly become one of the best QBs in college football. You kind of have to take that chance.

Sure, but the wife just left by her own accord. Lots of guys tend to think it's the end of the world when that happens, but most find wife #2 is an upgrade.

Buster will be fine at UF and GT will be fine when the next guy comes along.

Alot to unfold but I imagine the kid was more aware then that... He had 33 catches and 480 yards his Sophomore year and going into Junior year where hes the #1 guy with a QB that will rip it 25-30 times a game and alot more downfield opportunities. There will be ample chances next year if all things remain same. He has a NFL build already a 50-60 catch season and 800+ yards which is likely puts him on map as one of top WRs in college along his overall size and build
