Wienke
The guy that recruited King while at Tennessee?
The guy at Gt that the King called when leaving TAM.
The guy that told the Kings the deal with Key was not certian yet.
The guy that sold Kings - we are going for a championship - not nfl draft stats.

The guy that convinced peter warrick to not go pro and then he and warrick to lead fsu to undefested natuional national championship.

I HOPE HE STAYS AND HELPS US WIN A ACC CHAMPIONSHIP.

Imo, after next year he will be our oc / asst coach. BRODY RHODES WILL BE HIRED AS QB COACH.

Will Florida State hire Chris Weinke?

Can't see it myself. Leave an up and coming program for a dumpster fire?? Even if it's your alma mater.
They are on the hook for some big buyouts for the departing coaches. They are throwing around $1M+ each for the DC and OC. They could hang a large contract on him. He may be very comfortable where he is now and sometimes the job is more important than the money. They may think they can get a more experienced OC than Weinke.

Looking at FSU's schedule for 2025 I would say FSU is looking at between 3- 8 wins. There are (3) sure losses ( Miami, Alabama and Clemson). Five or six wins would be the most likely outcome. If they make a bowl, Norvell probably stays on, if not...... ? While I am sure Coach Weinke would love to come back to Tallahassee and be the OC one day , he strikes me as being very practicable. Plus. right now who is going to play QB next year and they will have to replace their whole OL. The Portal King better have a good year with transfers or next year's offense could be worse than this year ? Even though they average about 11 points a game- who are they going to bring in?

Weren’t these guys about to pay half a billion to leave the conference? They can’t afford a little $64M buyout of a coach?
(First, haha)

If they wait a year, the buyout guess down by $10 mil. Maybe Jimbo can loan them some dough for old times' sake.

He might get fired. It's borderline.

CBS sees some retirements (Kyle Willingham, Mack Brown), but not many firings. They think Freeze and Norvell have one more year.

If I was rebuilding the FSU assistant staff, OL and DL coaches need to be swapped out. The OL and QB coaches need to fit with Norvell's scheme, our he needs to give the whole offensive staff a rebuild. In Norvell's shoes, l'd spend the money on a top flight defensive coach, and let them rebuild that side of the staff.

Offense needs a QB coach and an OL coach and a receivers coach at least. He could offer an OC title to one of the coaches, but Norvell will probably be the OC. Weinke is someone he could go after, but he wouldn't really be the OC.

Norvell is an offensive coach, and his job is on the line. He has a choice of letting someone else fix one of the worst offense in FBS, or doing it himself. It's a good question as to which path he takes.

Norvell is a QB and a positive mentality away from a good offense. His O in 2023 was a machine until Jordan Travis went down. He didn’t forget how to run an O. Most of the rest of the underperformance is mindset, IMPO. They crapped their own bed there. Part may be due to the over reliance on transfers who never gelled with the program. If so, that’s a little longer fix but it’s fixable.

However, there is no reason FSU cannot have a top D every season. IMPO, that’s where Norvell needs to make his first hires.

They were looking at a $500 million loan, and for private equity to buy part of FSU athletics. They do not have $500 million. If they did, they probably wouldn't be as worried about the growing revenue disparity. I know very little about FSU athletics. My limited understanding is that they have a large number of small/medium donors, but very few large donors.

Anybody getting hired by FSU this offseason is an up and comer hoping to make their mark and prove themselves or someone knowing they will be job hunting again in a year or two and looking for a pay day - likely guys who are experienced but looking to retire soon I'd guess. Nobody is going there right now with long term expectations, which is why I don't see Weinke jumping. The roster is a mess, recruiting is not good. I expect they'll have a lot of guys enter the portal. It's a sinking ship.

FWIW, I read an article saying that Coach Prime might be going back to his Alma Mater.

I said it before we played FSU, Norvell's system takes time for a QB to be comfortable with. FSU and DJU were a terrible match. The guy they really wanted was Cam Ward, but Miami got him.

Norvell's best bet is to find an OC who has a good system that doesn't take a lot of time to get comfortable with. Preferably, an OC that can bring in a QB with him. FSU will always attract skill players, so that shouldn't be an issue. OL will need to be addressed.

Then he'll have to address his defense. They have good players on that side of the ball, but they're not playing as a team.

Given the expectations of FSU, I don't envy Norvell's position. Who would have thought GT would be in a stronger position after 2024?
