CPJ wasn’t connected to Tech before he came here, but I do not think he was DRad’s first choice/offer.

Geoff got the job because he actually wanted it. I honestly don’t remember anyone else being seriously connected to the job.

Key got the job because we didn’t have the money to actually get Fritz to sign. He’s here to make sure we don’t fall totally off the table while JBatt gets the money right.

The only fan experience I hate is the constant losing to inferior teams at home that has plagued the program for years now.
OK I did this fast so probably some mistakes but I think reasonably accurate. I looked at records for all ACC schools from 2019 to current. This excludes post-season (bowls or playoffs) and includes Mercedes games which are home games for GT. Every ACC school other than GT has at least a .500 winning pct. at home. We are at .300. It is really difficult to get fans excited when you can't get wins at home. Also we are last in overall winning percentage since 2019. That is bad and the dismal performance at home just magnifies it. We are the only school who is slightly better on the road than at home.

Fritz wanted 5 years guaranteed. The big boosters lost their appetite for long term contracts with TFG.

There’s also the question “if it takes Fritz 3 years to turn the team around, and he’s already close to retirement, what then?”

Nobody wants to drive 5 hours each way to watch us **** the bed to a team like Bowling Green or lose almost EVERY time we are favored.

So we suck on the road and at home since 2019. Shocking!

but I was surprised that every othet team includine ones who are at the bottom of the pack were .500 or higher at home. Playing at home is an advantage for 13 out of 14 ACC teams.
But then we win on the road. So what side that do to your math?

The disparity between home and away records are primarily driven by the four non-conference games. Favorable home scheduling playing softies like the Citadel, Northern Illinois and Bowling Green AND performing as a functioning football team are how others have a much better home record. Meanwhile we haven’t defeated an FBS team in Atlanta in over a year.

So, we went with plug-and-play transfer OL for the first 3 years rather than playing our youngsters and growing an OL. Meh. Could possibly have worked but it didn't. We also lost the following:

We lost 3 of our top 4 recruits from 2019, all our top 6 from 2020, 2 of our top 7 from 2021, and 3 of our top 4 from 2022. That's 11 of 17 top recruits between 2019-21. It's hard to rebuild like that.

Here's a sampling of the guys we've lost:
QB: James Graham (4), Jeff Sims (3); Chayden Peery (3)
RB: Jam Griffin (4), Jahmyr Gibbs (4), Antonio Martin (4)
WR: Ahmarean Brown (3), Nate McCollum (4); Nazir Burnett (3); Ryan King (3)

DL: Jared Ivery (4), Akelo Stone (3), KJ Miles (3), Jordan Dominek (3)
LB: Khatavian Franks (4), Chico Bennett (3); Kendall Young (3); Cornelius Evans (3)
DB: Jalen Huff (3); Jordan Huff (3); Kaleb Edwards (3); Jaylin Marshall (3)

Furthermore, we recruited 3 LB in 2019 (Evans, Bennett, Young); 1 LB in 2020 (Meiguez), 1 LB in 2021 (Tatum), and 1 LB in 2022 (Efford). Not good enough, and all 3 of those 2019 guys are gone.

It’s going to take a while to recover from the Stansbury debacle.
It is my opinion that this is a correct statement. We should never have hired him away from Oregon State, but at the time we had just gone thru MBob. It seemed like we hit two home runs with the hiring of Stansbury and later Collins. I'm sure that Stansbury didn't mean everything to go southbound, but dang. I think his shining moment came with the IA2020 campaign, but it sure seems the Edge Building redo has taken a long time to get started. Then there was the Tech Gold project. I don't think that worked out well. Remember the pea green tint the basketball court had during the first year of the new gold.

I think the green in the McBoob was in 2012, a few years before Stan.

Bud Peterson famously said that his only obligation to GT Athletics was to hire an athletic director. That's it. So, he wanted a Tech guy so that he could check the box.

Stansbury probably would have made a good AD in 1972. If you look at most of the recent hires, most of them have extensive backgrounds in fundraising (like Batt), media relations (ND's new guy), etc. I think most people were optimistic about him at first, then increasingly ... unimpressed. The world changed. GT athletics is still run pretty much the same way it was in the 1970's.

Saban's legacy at Alabama is that he completely overhauled how athletics is run. Gone are the days of boosters sitting around a conference table, making a decision, and selling it to the administration. Tech still has 5-6 guys that do this and until we broaden how financial development is managed, we will always have to live with what the decide. They were the ones who decided on the TO, getting rid of the TO, and pretty much every other zig-zag we've experienced. Note that it is only in the last 2-3 years that Tech even had a strategic plan for Athletics.

If you don't know where you are going, any road will take you there.

Lowest paid Coach in the league, lowest assistant salaries in the league. Nothing else needs to be said.
Don’t think key would care so much about his salary, but asst salaries need to be boosted by 30%-50%...

Also, student activity fees should be scratching off some coin for NIL.

And stop with the gimmicks at game. If you can’t get the right beer (beers) at BDS, don’t blow smoke up my ***. Send operation staff to Tulane, Utah, northwestern and see what those schools are doing to draw fans in a metropolitan area.

And last....
Stop being SNOBS,......that’s for you at the Hill

Collins screwed GT into a 4 year hole. Nothing to do with CPJ and transition..

Collins just sucked.
