Has anyone ever spent a Christmas in one of Europe’s “must visit” cities during Christmas time? With retirement coming up before this summer I’m thinking of taking my wife, daughter, and son in law to one of these cities for Xmas 2025.

Rick Steves has a great Christmas show about holiday traditions in Europe and what to check out. That would be a good start to just get some ideas.

Went with some friends a year ago to visit Prague and Vienna in early December. The Christmas markets were WELL WORTH the trip. Prague in particular was spectacular (it snowed throughout our visit there, which aided the Christmas spirit tremendously). Vienna was also beautiful, but a bit more spread out (take the streetcar from one area to the next). Probably second best trip we’ve ever taken. (Best was Bora-Bora and the Great Barrier Reef.)
We also took some of the guided Christmas Market tours. They were worthwhile.

I think I’ve seen that. Is that the one where he up into a Swiss backwoods and they took some sleds down a snowy slope with lighted lanterns?

I haven't spent xmas day in Europe, but i was stationed in Germany for 4.5 years. every xmas I was either in Iraq or took leave back to the states, still got to see a lot of the xmas stuff though. I know Rothenburg ob der Tauber was a awesome place to visit during December.
