Two Sundays ago, I walked into my church here in the low country of SC. I was greeted by a SC fan and an FSU fan who said "you guys won that game (against uga). The refs jobbed you on that missed targeting call on the fumble." I just shrugged and smiled as I've tried to stay away from blaming the refs outside of this message board. Everyone else I've talked to in person has done that for me.
This past Sunday, that same SC fan and I had a lengthy conversation. He said "I just think, and I'm sure you'd agree as a Tech fan, that the SEC should just go ahead any break off from the rest. You can't tell me that watching that ASU-ISU game was anything close to being like watching the SEC play." I told him he was right. The ASU-ISU game was a blowout. But the ACC CG was far more fun to watch because the SEC CG was boring to which he responded "yeah, that wasn't the best representation. But we beat the ACC champs last weekend and we're like they fourth or fifth best SEC team." That's when I asked him if he remembered how he greeted me at the door the previous week and what he said. He then concluded his argument with the ever popular "Yeah, but still."
It's hard for them to fathom that the rest of the CFB world isn't scared to play them and doesn't buy into the hype. Here's hoping for mts315's scenario so we can start to show the media.
