Education important to Calvin Johnson, including getting his degree

I can't wait for Calvin to go to a team with a competent offense...it'll be a resurgence like Randy Moss had when he joined the Pats. Give him at least 1 legit threat on the field with him and his numbers will skyrocket.
Also, this is a great comment. It should help the highly rated kids who just assume they'll go pro to realize the importance of this if even Calvin freaking Johnson stresses it.

Plaster this quote everywhere...

“You never know how football is going to work out,” Johnson said. “So that’s why I went to Georgia Tech. You get that degree and you can work wherever, you know.”

Well, there is what he says and what he does. Being 30 credits shy is about two years, I think. I hope he gets it, though with the parents he has watching his money he will never use it. Won't need to, because he has not burned it on the pro sports curse, the Posse. But still, he is really only about halfway through college.

30 credits shy should be one year if he's a full time student

Yes. My bad. Conflated half and full academic year. Much better for Johnson. Personally I am hoping that he does not retire, but only if he can land with a good QB and a good second receiver and decent tight end. And an OC who, unlike the jerks at Detroit, won't insist on using him as an across the middle possession receiver to have him lit up, but will use him instead as the deep threat that he still is and actually throw him the ball. Using Johnson as a decoy is just brain deadism. Calvin Johnson being a step slower than 10 years ago is still a lot faster than most WRs in the NFL.

Nice timing Calvin!!!! That's exactly the kind of thing potential recruits need to see & hear during this critical stage a month before signing day. And to put it out there right after a down season is that much more clutch! Always a Playmaker that guy.
