Have not watched them play this year but does uga have a weakness of defense, looking at the stats doesn't look good.

Hate to say it, but this Bulldog defense will probably go down as one of the better defenses in college football history and the stats back it up. This was from mid October:

Kirby built his defense to defend modern spread offenses...and it looks like he's doing a masterful job at it. You can thank Saban for that. If you read the article, Saban puts together an all star staff on both sides of the ball, and it's almost like football university for the coaches that coach there. Not only are you learning to be a head coach like Saban, but everyday you're having to go against some of the best coaches in practice. Iron sharpens iron. Kirby had to battle probably one of the top 5 coaches of the spread offense in the modern era every day in practice for years at 'Bama: Lane Kiffen. I'm sure Kirby took a LOT away from having to coach against Kiffen every day.

Not only is UGA historically elite on defense, but they're LOADED on the depth chart. Wave after wave of elite defenders coming at you.

On top of the elite defense, UGA also has the #3 offensive FEI offense right now.

I don't expect this to be pretty at all.

Ohio State has the only offense that might be able to challenge Georgia defensively. But I don’t know if OSU’s defense will be good enough to keep them in the game. The one area of Georgia’s defense that know one really knows about is their secondary. Because they get so much pressure up front nobody has been able to challenge their defensive backfield. Designed rollouts and bootlegs with a lot of mesh routes may alleviate some of the pressure and draw the safeties and corners in allowing a home run ball to fall in over the coverage. Their pressure rate is insane, so you have to get the QB moving and can’t expect him to sit in the pocket. What I would really like to see and what might open up some holes in the LBs and DBs is just running straight up speed options in addition to designed rollouts. Keep the DL away from the QB and make the LBs commit.

About the only thing we got to slow them down are stealing scooters, tvs, & laptops, or scoring some loose women, weed or blow. We should have run a sting operation this week in the cesspool.

We’re not even remotely in their league. It’s pointless to discuss. Hopefully, we can get some new coaching and have a punchers chance in the near future.

One critique is that they have yet to play another top team. Their two wins against teams in the CFB Playoff Rankings are Clemson (8-3) and Arkansas (7-4). According to FEI, the best offense they have faced is Tennessee. They have yet to play a team that is currently ranked in all three polls.

To date, UGA's defense has played Offensive FEI ranked teams:

Clemson #84
UAB #51
USCe #107
Vanderbilt #104
Arkansas #28
Auburn #13
Kentucky #19
Florida #53 (#34 before Mullen got fired)
Missouri #58
Tennessee #9
Charleston Southern NA

Of the teams, UT/Auburn/Kentucky can be considered VERY good. UF (under Mullen), and Arkansas can be considered good. Against Tennessee, the best offensive team they've played so far, they gave up 17 points and 387 total yards.

We are currently ranked #78.

A stomach bug in the UGA locker room is the only thing that might level the playing field. Speaking of, our men’s basketball team won today with 6 guys out due to “flu-like symptoms”. Go Jackets!

Yep, so the best teams in the country are built to stop the spread offenses. Kind of makes you wonder why we want to run one so bad…
