Not to detract from DT, who is one of the best ever at GT, but I often wonder what Smelter might have done without his injury. Could he have produced at DT's level in the league?

Good question. To me Smelter might have had even better hands and he got separation on his routes like no one I’ve ever seen. But he was a step and half slower than Thomas and was not the same breakaway threat. Just my opinion.

Wide receiver Demaryius Thomas announced Monday he is retiring from the NFL and doing so with the Denver Broncos, the team with which he was selected to four Pro Bowls and won a Super Bowl.

Denver HOF but he probably needed 3 more seasons 1000yds to be considered a NFL HOF. Still had one of the best 5 yr stretch that a WR can ask for.

It's hard to come back from an Achilles tear, especially for a WR and especially late in your playing career. Nevertheless, many would love to have half of his achievements in the NFL.

Met him once when I was a student and he was a really nice guy. Really balled out in the NFL and had a great career. Shame injuries brought it to a close so quickly but he was easily a top 5 if not top 3 receiver in the NFL at his peak. Broncos Ring of Fame for sure. Hard to get into the HoF as a WR. Probably gets left in "Hall of Very Good" tier but I think a lot of people would be satisfied to have the career he had. Definitely one of my favorite GT players

What a game. I was 17, I'm 29 now and that may be my most remembered game. It ended at like 2 am lol
