They haven't played anyone decent. (Talking about UNC when someone said something about not respecting their offense) also they lost to South Carolina, yet again, so no I don't really respect them.

I'm guessing you didn't watch their game vs usc-e

I'm gonna get killed for this but I think our D has been our team strength for the first half of the season. FSU was our best game by far. But the D played well enough for us to win most of our games. I think that's true for ND, Duke, and Pitt. Was true with UNC till Gotsis got ejected.
I see your point and agree d better than special teams and the offense which both have had periods of very poor performance. I had hoped the many returned vets on defense could do better till the young guys on offense got going.
Did defense have any injuries as compared to ab and bb?
For example defensive scoring ? Seriously I dont know Do we have any?
Seems like very few forced fumbles?

The above would have not been accomplished with out more risk taking and possible big plays the wrong way . Imo we would be where we are now on defense a few games ago _ . Its hard to learn to be agressive while playing conservative. (Fsu made 2 big gains for first downs when we went into 3 rush and dropped 8 way too deep. ).
But u are right defense has ben the strength. If the offense starts to play eell I hope the defense will remain aggressive.

You've gotta wonder if Roof has been somewhat conservative on Def play calling due to lack of confidence in the offense

I still haven't been able to watch the last half of the 2nd qtr or any of the 2nd half in replay. Did we call a lot more aggressive plays or did we execute plays better? I know we showed some multiple fronts...how often did we send blitzes and how often were there multiple blitzes. Did we play tighter coverage? I recall CPJ saying we played more zone coverage.

My opinion: Things that really helped in the second half on D: FSU only had the ball less than 3 minutes in the third Q so the D was quite fresh in the fourth Q. Several FSU false starts in the fourth Q also greatly helped the D.
What we did not do well on D was to cover Cook on passing situations when we were in 3 lineman/zone coverage. We did get great pressure from Gotsis who was an ever presence in Golson's face and we got a lot of hustle from the back seven to gang tackle.
