The Joltin’ Jackets are no. 1 in team hitting and no. 2 in team pitching.

The latter is unreal … well, at least so far.

Remaining teams on our schedule:
  • Cal - #8 batting, #11 pitching
  • Miami - #13 batting, #12 pitching
  • UVA - #6 batting, #9 pitching
  • Louisville - #2 batting, #10 pitching
  • Duke - #11 batting, #8 pitching
Teams we've already played
  • VT - #7 batting, #5 pitching
  • Pitt - #12 batting, #13 pitching
  • ND - #16 batting, #14 pitching
  • Clemson - #10 batting, #4 pitching
  • Stanford - #5 batting, #15 pitching

I like to think that we single-handedly tanked Pitt, Notre Dame, and Stanford's pitching rankings! 😁 (I doubt that's completely true, but I'm sure it doesn't help them!)

Trigger warning for GT33...don't read to prevent the jinx from kicking into action...

I've kept my own little spreadsheet of individual stats against only ACC competition, UGa, and the NCAA tournament. I've been doing it since 2019. So far (not quite 50% through) the team AVE/OBP/SLG are all 20 or 30 points higher than any of the other squads, and this is before the weather gets nice and warm. From an individual POV, Kyle Lodise is on pace to shatter the record for best season...Tim Borden's 14 homeruns in 2022, Tristan English's 24 XBH, .809 SLG, and 1.260 OPS in 2019, and Drew Burress' 1.247 OPS last season.

And the pitching staff, so far, is outpacing the 2019 staff. I only count the top 13 most frequently used pitchers to avoid an instance like what happened to Stanford yesterday skewing the numbers. So far we have an ERA of 3.90, a WHIP of 1.55, and an opponent average of .251. The 2019 staff was 5.24/1.53/.269 in these 3 columns.

Interesting that while the WHIP was quite close, the ERA was miles apart on those 2 years….

Very cool. I will toss a little (not a lot) water on it, though. The 2019 schedule was tougher than 2025 (so far).
