Yup. Miami loses to a ranked opponent and drops 6. Meanwhile, tOSU loses to an unranked opponent and drops 5. CFP math. Had to squeeze Bama right in on top of them.
It’s easy to see why Ohio State struggles against the big dawgs of the SEC and ACC…they don’t get these favorable flags when the game is on the line because they don’t have the big 10 refs calling the games. The CFP committee is all about the money and Ohio State brings that!

Miami just got jobbed to put Bama as an at-large. Meanwhile, UGAg, the recipient of SECheat refs “contempt for the rules,” just got put in the coveted 5th slot. Irony of ironies if UGAg should have to play Bama.

The committee is just a way for it to be corrupted. At this point teams don’t even want to play in their conference championship. So take the top two teams from each conference and have 4 at large bids based on the coaches poll rankings. The media is a joke.

It's fine to focus on the losses... but you gotta look at wins too. Alabama has the better win compared to Miami. I can't really honestly or objectively say Alabama or Miami "deserve" it over the other.

Frankly... Ga Tech could have made this easier by finishing off UGA. That would have helped Miami & hurt Alabama... but just like Miami last weekend... Ga Tech couldn't hold a double digit lead.

He's an administrator in the style of Homer Rice. He's probably the closest thing to Homer Rice alive in College Football today.
If that's the case, administrator is not the right word. Blaine and MBob were administrators. Rice was a visionary and a leader. Two completely different animals.

And seeing the dawgs at #5 when they should have 3 losses confirms to me how much CFB is rigged by the $EC and the media.
You really hate Georgia and the SEC. Georgia clearly has the best resume of the 2 loss teams. The only 1 loss teams below them are Indians, SMU and Boise. UGA, SMU and Boise all play in Championship games. If all 3 win they get a bye. If they lose they won’t be #5.

In your title i get the drift you are involved with a very structured form of work. I presume that you are governed by strict rules and set times. So i can see your affinity for professoriial style of managment. I quit exxon, a giant engineering company , smallengineering company to start my own company with the first ibm pc 64k personal computer. I am on other end of the spectrum.

I soon found partners and togethrr we creted a struture that could adapt and grow and had internal controls.

I think phillips adding the "academic 3 - smu, cal, stan" is a bad short term move made in reaction to FSU Clem( soon followed by Miami ) saying the bottom feeders like wf scuse duke need to go and rest like gt bc vt need to step up or we demand exit. The adding of excellent academics was made to help a few homeless academics and to buttress the coming trials.
If phillips was homer rice he would be cresting new ways for acc and b12 and other to cooperate to negotiate a superior product to tv market.

Being the acc elite nerd conference has a small nich tv audience. Going back to the 50s will get zero teams into playoffs.

I hope he has a better and more creative plan than congress will do somrthing effective to save the nerd teams and punish the mega p5.

He believes in the system. Unfortunately, there are too many vultures. However, he’s not without fangs. I wouldn’t sleep in Jim Phillips. I hope to see him next week when I’m in Charlotte. He’s a busy guy.
If so, then he is believing in a rigged system. There are no quality points for that.

Last two years his teams have been left out of the playoffs and he has been silent as a mouse. You would see the SEC commissioner in an uproar. So yes I would consider him weak
So in 2022 you would have liked to have seen him in an uproar over 2-loss Clemson getting left out instead of undefeated or 1-loss teams getting selected? He definitely would not have been thought of as weak if he did that. He would have been considered an idiot.

I really struggle to fathom how folks appear to want GA Tech football to prosper yet make excuses for the SECheat/sEcSPN cabal that continually cheats the ACC out of prosperity. Makes zero sense to me.

I tend to agree with you here. Any organization needs the policy and procedure followers and the "color inside the lines" type of people. This is the comfort zone for the vast majority of people imo. WTBS, you don't need that type of personality at the very top or you become stagnant and rely on doing what you have always done.

What are you talking about? FSU in 2023 and Miami in 2024.

This is a good column by David Hale.

It's an interesting debate. At the end of the day, at least we're debating over the 12th team and not leaving out an undefeated conference champ like last year. If it were last year, who would the 4 playoff teams be?

Clearly the following 3 would be in:
Winner of Oregon/Penn St
Winner of Texas/Georgia
Notre Dame

But what about the 4th?
SMU (if ACC champ)?
Ohio St over SMU even if SMU wins the ACC?
Penn State + Oregon if Penn State wins the B1G?

Is this a shaft? YES

Did Miami and Clemson set it up by losing to Syracuse and South Carolina? ALSO YES

South Carolina is complaining too—they think they deserve it more than Bama, and they’re right.

If history is my teacher, the answer is Alabama. ;)
