[QUOTE="jeffgt14, post: 112202, member: 1059"] I’m more and more not in favor of taking 8 OR only conference champs. I’ve never been a huge fan of only conference champs because it downplays any importance to OOC games. Taking 8 just seems too much to me for college football. The conference championship games are essentially playoff games anyways to an extent. Think about taking 8 teams this year. Does anyone really think Mich St and Miss St deserve a shot? The biggest problem comes from having 5 major conferences and only 4 spots. That’s just moronic and why when they first started talking about doing a playoff system I thought 6 spots with the top 2 teams having byes would make the most sense. I think having a committee would work with this if there are certain definitive rules to guide them. If you win you’re conference and you’re in the Top 15, you should automatically get in. That’ll remove any BS of some 6-5 team in a crappy division pulling off an upset getting in the playoffs. Outside of that, the committee can kind of do what they’re doing. Also think the bye week for the top 2 helps keep the importance of the season in tact since teams will still want to go undefeated and have a tougher SOS to get the bye instead of just playing enough to get in the Top 6.
