Seriously.
I really have no dog in the fight this year but I am pulling HARD for results that challenge the collective presumptions (perhaps propaganda) of the strength of these programs.

Clemson really finds themselves in a favorable spot to make some noise. They have a massively over-regarded Texas team and a beatable 4 seed in ASU (tho credit to ASU, they are on a 6-game heater with some good wins). On the flip side, Clemson coined the term “Clemsoning” for a reason.

I would also love to see Boise / SMU quarter final… I wouldn’t be surprised by any of the three coming out that Boise quarterfinal group.

With UGA down a QB, I think ND would have to be favored coming out of that group, but the Hoosiers might be pretty motivated to knock ND off their perch as the premier football school in Indiana. Interesting storyline brewing there. Despite them being in the same state they don’t have much rivalry and haven’t played in over 60 years.

It will be interesting to see if subsequent CFP fields turn out this way, but Oregon didn’t get much of a prize for the #1 seed. That quarterfinal will be tough.

I have a good feeling that we will be down to just 1 SEC team standing after the first round…(y)

I hope no SEC team makes it to the final.

I don't think Ugag and FSU injuries are apples to apples. First the gaggers won their conference so they got an automatic birth in the new setup. Now the issues with automatic births is a whole other conversation that needs to be had lol.

But for FSU, once Travis went down FSU struggled badly with South Alabama and then a 6-5 Florida team that ended up being 6-7. They also did not look good at all vs a very average Louisville team.

Had FSU looked even remotely competent on offense in either of those 3 games, they likely get in. But Bama beating Ugag (thank god) kept them out as well. Had Ugag won, they would have simply put all 4 P5 champions in.
We’ve litigated the FSU situation endlessly in the past. I have no appetite for repeating all the various arguments. The point is if eyeball test is the final word then things like being undefeated do not matter. Being a conference champion doesn’t matter. Everything becomes subjective. Should uga be rated as high as they are? I have my opinion. You have yours.

Not only did you get their opponent wrong, but FSU was losing 13-0 when Travis went down in the first quarter. The Tate Rodemaker led offense then proceeded to put up 58 points over the next 3 quarters while their defense allowed 0 additional points to North Alabama. What definition of "struggle" are you using?

Georgia was an automatic qualifier with their win over Texas. The question would be would they be in if they lost? How the backup, Stockton played also mattered. Stockton actually played better than Beck in that game. Georgia likely would have been in with a close loss.

Texas is the vastly over seeded team!
Did he? About the same way Philo did against NC State. Just QB draw all day long. Not sure that’s “better”

Edit: Philo made more big time throws than Stockton. But the draws were what won the game.

And Rodemaker went down in the UF game with a concussion, so Brock Glenn took over, and also played the CCG. That’s where the sketchy QB play came from.

Oh I agree completely there, but we're comparing a 4 team field vs a 12 team field. FSU also looked hapless is next games 2 games on offense vs Florida ans Louisville. Had it been a 12 team field last season they're obviously in it.

Don't think any team would drop from 5 to 13 and out completely for losing their QB1.

Doh. Could certainly be mistaken. Thought I remembered them struggling with them for a while. They did look like crap against hapless Florida and Louisville the next 2 games.

if the fsu qb situation had happened this year with the 12-team format then they would be in, this is a silly argument
OK, but don't get in the way of hating uGA!!! Let's compromise and say they should be ranked lower than Arizona State and be the 5 seed?
