Who would you have left out for Miami to be in? Indiana (11-1), tOSU (10-2), Tennessee (10-2)? The rest of the teams either won or lost their conference championship game. I would say that Ohio State and Tennessee both had better wins and Indiana had a better record. Hard to argue Miami got shafted. Maybe they deserved it over one of those three, but there's merit in them being chosen over Miami.
Texas has no reason to be in the playoffs except for some contrived reasoning. And Tennessee is a pretender. I was high on both of them before the season but I realize now I was buying a lot of hype about them. Boy, was I wrong!

UGA should be eliminated from the playoffs due to Becks injury.

I was really surprised that no more was made of this yesterday. I guess they didn't have anything definitive yet, but just seemed to be real quiet about the impact of losing him. I've heard (third hand) that Beck needs surgery and is out for the year. That makes that ND/uGA game a lot more interesting.

Nothing would make me happier than uga laying an egg due to QB issues. Not just because it’s uga, but because it exposes again the double standard the committee has when it comes to SEC teams. After keeping an undefeated team out of the playoff because the starting QB was injured you have set the bar awfully high for what it takes to keep a team in the playoff.

Agreed. Like I said, my info is third hand, so who knows, but I can't imagine any way Beck would be 100% in three weeks and can't understand why it wasn't a bigger deal yesterday. His arm was hanging by his side when he came into the game in OT. Clearly he wasn't well.

Beck and Stockton could have literally died out there and if uga still won the game they were getting in. Them winning the sec made them an auto qualifier.

Now if there weren’t auto qualifiers then yeah they should be overlooked like fsu did but that’s not the case this year.

Right, they were getting in, but should they have been No. 2? That's my question. Are they better than Arizona State and Clemson without Beck? Now I know they would never have dropped below 4, but how nice would it be for uGA to get a beat down by ND while sitting at No. 2? I'd say, pretty nice!

I have no info at all about his injury and I have to be careful not to let my snarkiness about their program influence my “wish list.” But wouldn’t it be rather rich if uga kept his injury on deep top secret confidentiality to avoid alarming the playoff committee!

Meanwhile, if Stockton starts I hope opposing teams study his tapes carefully. He’s a very good quarterback but he has an Achilles heel that teams can take advantage of.

Georgia was an automatic qualifier with their win over Texas. The question would be would they be in if they lost? How the backup, Stockton played also mattered. Stockton actually played better than Beck in that game. Georgia likely would have been in with a close loss.

Texas is the vastly over seeded team!

I don't think Ugag and FSU injuries are apples to apples. First the gaggers won their conference so they got an automatic birth in the new setup. Now the issues with automatic births is a whole other conversation that needs to be had lol.

But for FSU, once Travis went down FSU struggled badly with South Alabama and then a 6-5 Florida team that ended up being 6-7. They also did not look good at all vs a very average Louisville team.

Had FSU looked even remotely competent on offense in either of those 3 games, they likely get in. But Bama beating Ugag (thank god) kept them out as well. Had Ugag won, they would have simply put all 4 P5 champions in.

ND can shut uga’s run game down hard, put it all on Gunner’s arm, question is can ND move the ball on ug? They have a mobile qb, similar in some ways to HK so I believe so.

if the fsu qb situation had happened this year with the 12-team format then they would be in, this is a silly argument

You are assuming ND beats Indiana! That might not happen. No way to know with these Playoff Games!
