I like the conference champions getting byes as it makes the championship more meaningful. Plus, as we are finding out, comparing conferences strengths to each other is too much of a subjective argument. Using just the "top four" gives the committee even more control to push their bias on the rankings and ensure the B10 and SECheat get the most favorable matchups.
A hidden or less obvious beenifit of rewarding conference champs is talented kids in weaker conferences will stayput if the have better chance of getting to CFP AND PLAYING.

I agree, also i don’t like dabo or clemson
The clemson qb is from Weatlake Texas 6A that has always had great passing qb ( klubnek, drew breeze, and other nfl qb)
They just are in semi finals of D1 6A. They are elite and know it.

The gt qb is from Texas Longview that scraps and fights to advance far in playoffs.
Haynes s dad, john , had to miss uga game coaching team in quarter finals. Right now ( 3pm ) he is coaching against Desoto - also elite (9 D1 recruits) .
Our motto - Us Against the World fits Longview to a tee. The Clemson Gt game will be a. Qb war

And this now means if clempson defeats SMU, likely clempson doesn’t get one of the top 4 slots.

The ACC regulated to one team in, playing an away game.
Theoretically I agree… Clemson was ranked behind both ISU and ASU.
what’s funny though…
I’m watching our basketball game on ACC network and the scroll at the bottom (espn feed) says big 12 champ Arizona state is “likely to earn a CFP spot.” Just “likely?”
I guess Army could jump them?
Sarcasm of course… but funny we are worried about the ACC champ not getting a bye and espn still hedging that the big 12 champ is even in…

GA is getting bailed out by the refs again. Shocking. Kirby should have already been warned.

But yeah, UT offense isn’t as good as ours.

I'd be in favor of a separate thread for real-time play to play complaints about officiating.

A sunbelt champ could if they had some upsets they typically play good p4 teams OOC. hell southern played boise and almost won this year except they had jeanty and if they had and beat Ole Miss then went on a tear through the sunbelt they could very well make it. ITs really about schedule make up.
The top 2 teams in the Sun Belt playing for the championship tonight played 3 P4 teams combined. Marshall lost to VT 31-14 and Ohio State 49-14. Louisiana only played Wake and won 41-38. Not inspiring any confidence they could play with the Top P4 teams.

Will Az St jump Boise State or SMU if they win? They will clearly be ahead of Clemson if Clemson wins as they already are ranked above Clemson. AZ St was convincing in their win today.

#17 for Ga is going to end up paralyzed. Throws his crown on every hit

I 'liked' your comment because it's true not because I "like" it.

And I'm watching this game. Are we to believe this is somehow levels above what other conferences are doing? Sorry this just looks like bad football. But, of course, BSPN will tell us it's because they're both great ... so they're inept. Huh?

Yea in the first weekend of the NCAAT Basketball. Not going to happen in the CFO except possibly for teams like Boise State or SMU who are still viewed as “mid majors.”
I’m not sure I agree with that. But I am sure that we won’t know if undefeated or one loss conference champions never get the opportunity.
