What is everyone's thought....Can GT make the CFP in 2015 without going undefeated???

I think GT can get in by going undefeated with 1 loss and a ACCCG win, or possibly by being undefeated and getting their first loss in the ACCCG..

I do not think a 2 loss GT team will get selected even though we have a great Schedule this year (ND, UGA, FSU, Clemson along with coastal games)

Need to be undefeated and win ACCCG to be sure. Can we do it ? Yes but need a dozen or so close plays at critical times going our way and not the other way. Being undefeated over a season is razor thin in a 2015 schedule like ours. Go Jackets!!!

I think GT could get in with 1 loss being Clem or FSU regular season and then beating that same team in the ACCCG, as long as the B12 champ is not undefeated. It's really hard to say solely looking at GT's record, because these things don't operate in a vacuum. If all other P5 champs have 2 losses, then I think GT would be a lock as a 1 loss ACC Champ. Also, ACC needs to hold serve or have winning record against SEC regular season. Without the Saturday after thanksgiving sweep by the ACC last year, I'm not sure FSU would have gotten in.

Think about this board at this time last year. A lot were ready to get rid of Johnson. The board was too low. Similarly, I think you guys are too high this year.

While your defense will be improved, I still don't think you have enough.

Last year your luck broke about fair.

You could easily have won the UNC game and the FSU game, but you could just as easily lost the VT game and the GA Southern game.

I expect you guys to be better this year, but your record may not reflect it. Clemson likely won't have their QB blow his ACL on the first series. Miami won't have a freshman starting at QB. VT is still going to be VT. ND has a whole ton of talent.

I think a repeat of last year would be a WONDERFUL accomplishment for this squad, but unless you guys start megastuds on defense, I think this past year might be about the ceiling for you guys.

I hate to say it, but I think in the current football environment, your academic stringency is just going to mean you lose a game or two every year, no matter what.

Hey I just asked a question... For the record I will be happy with a Chic-Fil-A Peach Bowl Victory!!! But to be honest if we end up in the SUN bowl, I will be disappointed!!

Why do you keep saying you guys? Are you not a GT fan?

I like the CPJ method. Let's play the games one at a time and see where we are when the time comes to discuss the CFP. Most of what we need we have almost no control over. Two undefeated SEC teams in their championship game, along with a close game, could send both to the CFP. Plus the B1G champ will likely be tOSU and then there's Oregon, and TCU or Baylor (or both).

But, honestly, I will be happy with 11-3 again this year. Especially if one of those eleven is uga.

After last season the bar has officially been raised from the CCG and David Braine era of seven wins to much high expectations and results under CPJ and his staff.

Ohio State lost to VT last year and got in. If we win the ACC and have one loss we have a chance. Not guaranteed, but it just depends on the loss.

Undefeated is a guaranteed CFP trip being from the power five.

It's pretty simple actually, with the schedule we have if we only lose one we will have a great chance compared to other 1 loss teams that have weaker schedules but with that being said we need to win convincingly on the games that should be easy and we will need to show we are playing at a high level and not struggling at the end of the season.

Absolutely 100% agree. We could've easily been 8-4 last year but the players fought and earned those victories. Anything better then 8-4 I'll be happy. I honestly doubt we'll go 11-2 like we did last year.
