Does KSU have many well to do alums? It is a new school on the scene so to speak, may not have had the time for the really wealthy alums to develop that also want to contribute to their FB program.

Seems to me that KSU is a run of the mill liberal arts school with a business school and an engineering division. I don’t know that they have had time to develop many CEO types. Maybe so, but I’d be surprised.

Michael Coles was the CEO at Great American Cookie Company (which he started and sold) and Caribou Coffee. He’s been on the BoT at KSU for decades with his name plastered all over campus, including the business school.

Overton is catching hell over this decision. Something tells me that he must have had some donors in his ear...if not, Overton will likely be shown the door soon too.
How much does it take to be a big money booster there who has input into hiring/firing decisions??? I am guessing that three crisp $100 bills and a box of fresh Krispy Kremes (the ones wth sprinkles) makes you KSU's version of Phil Knight, T. Boone Pickens, Jimmy Haslam or Jimmy Rane.

I took a look, and there are some alumni that you would have heard of. Some sites say that Ryan Seacrest is an alum (I can’t confirm any of the lists)

Mostly, KSU students are the first in their families to attend college. They often won’t have the connections of some alumni from older schools, but I know a lot of people who live to hire their grads.

I don’t think they’d have nearly as many wealthy alumni as UGA or Tech, partially because they really started expanding about 30 years ago and they have more alumni from 10 years ago than from 25 years ago. They’ll probably start having more, though

72 - 38 with three conference championships, he has three so-so years including a bad start this year and they fire him, then lie about it. A bad end for a career that literally lifted KSU into football relevance and included some really great years. And all because the transition to BCS and didn't prepare for it. This was not Bohannon's fault.

Bohannon didn't deserve this. Maybe he can catch on at one of the service academies. They'd be glad to have him, I would guess.

We should def find a spot for Bohannon, he’s a helluva coach, there was a noticeable drop-off after he left Tech for KSU

It honestly reminds me of the mismanagement of Kleinlein at georgia southern. Wanted Monken gone from the moment he took over because he hated the "option" and didn't think they could compete with teh big boys with it. When monken beats florida then gets hired away by army he goes out and gets fritz. Fritz being a smart coach looked at the players he had and said you know what ima run more option and they have 2 great years post transition. Then he doesn't pay the man and he goes to tulane buidls them instead. AFter fritz they hire... tyson ****ing summers which was basically the beta version of collins. Valdosta state guy who was a near first time head coach suppose to be a recruiter bleed blue and white grey up going to southern games... he proceedes to **** around with 3 win seasons. kleinlein gets fired in season 2 then he gets fired. its just crazy how the same mistakes get made over and over again. SUmmers is even funnier because he brought in Brian Cook from tech to run an offense. Only to nto let him actually install the pistol flex that cook ran.

KSU runs the option. NEarly wins an FCS championship. Then gets told they are transitioning, bohannon tries to update the offense (leading to a really down year due to injuries) then he sits half his team in preperation to play FBS level football. They change their offense even further to a standard pistol spread. Fail miserably because they really don't have the talent and then they blame him?
Don't get me started on Kleinlein.
Or Tyson Summers. Had someone I know well who had a friend who coached with Summers and said Summers was "a joke."
You know the story of Summers' interview with Southern? Gets a call in the middle of it. Steps outside to take it - seriously, who (bleepin) leaves an interview to take a call unless your house has a tactical nuke headed its way? - and then proceeds to tell the committee, "that was Mark Richt - he wants to know if I'd be interested in being his DC."
Interview committee falls for this obvious BS and hires him.

I've known Bo since he got to Statesboro with PJ in the late 90s. Class act. Great guy. And as has been mentioned, his dad was a coaching legend in the state.
Bo will be fine - he's got enough contacts if he wants another job, or, if he's had PJ advising him, he's got more money socked away through stocks and other ventures than I'll ever see.

Just saw where KSU's NIL budget for this year was only $5,000. Yes you read that correctly.

Their AD must be incredibly incompetent.
How can you jump to FBS with only that much to offer players? Unbelievable. And then you fire the coach.

It sure appears they were not ready to make that leap. The AD made a huge mistake. There used to be advantage in number of scholarships but things are so different now. What was the motivation?

Media rights. The problems for KSU is they don't have a large enough fanbase to pay for the increased facilities and athletic costs. This isn't going to end well for them.

Did the AD train under sasquatch? Seems eerily similar to starving our football program and expecting wins to magically appear.

I suspect that AD might be next out the door.
The entire budget of KSU’s athletic department is $31M, up from $25M. The minimum, in today’s environmen, to be competitive is $70M plus, and probably closer to $100M.

It’s a very bad idea to jump up until you’re ready to jump up. KSU is going to ruin a lot of its reputation in the process.
