Bolden?

Why is he still starting? SG is supposed to a scorer not a brick mason. He can't hit his ugly floater and sure as hell can't hit from behind the line at a high enough percentage to scare anyone. Solo is playing at much higher level right now it isn't even funny. Am I the only one that feels this way?

I agree with you. Bolden isn't playing to his potential, but potential is the key word here. If he's not knocking down shots in January then we have a problem and he'll be sitting. I have no problem if Gregory wants to play him against lesser opponents to boost his confidence because a confident shooter is a huge need for this team when we get into ACC play. We certainly cannot rely on Carter to hit clutch 3s for us against ACC teams, Bolden needs to fill his role.

Solo has come a long way and I'm super excited about him. Stacey is a freak athlete and should maybe try out for the football team with his crazy athleticism (joking- kind of.) If he could control his craziness he'd be ridiculous. Morris will provide some help when he returns and Stephens is coming along. Those are the 4 we have that could take Bolden's starting gig IMO and none of them are the pure shooter we need Bolden to be. I consider a game like KSU as a preseason game, let Bolden play. Vandy is a decent OOC game but we can afford to let Bolden have a try. Much deeper into the schedule if he hasn't figured it out we're in trouble...

I agree JTJason. Bolden needs to get his reps and work on his shot in games. Practice is practice. But if you can't hit the shot in practice you probably are not going to hit it in a real game. Apparently he is not hitting the shot in practice either. Coach has a problem.

Oh my. Bolden shouldn't be playing right now. I mean not at all. What is coach seeing that we're not?

He's been playing terribly this year. Sometimes good shooters go through slumps, but typically when this happens the shots still look pretty good on the way to the basket. Right now you can tell it ain't going in as soon as it leaves his hands.

Not sure what's happened, but it appears to be a bit of a sophomore slump. It's almost as if he just looks out of practice...I don't know the guy personally, so I don't want to make any assumptions about his work ethic, but does anyone have any insight into this thought?

He hasn't done anything close to what was advertised when he came to Tech. He reminds me a lot of Brian Oliver (not lethal weapon 3 B Oliver). Hyped to be a 3 pt specialist, but doesn't come through in game situations.

Give the guy a chance before you call for his head. If you don't remember, this kid put up 20 on Duke last year in what was (maybe? I don't remember) his first chance starting. He was dropping 3s from everywhere on them and almost single-handedly kept us in that game. I agree if he doesn't get it together soon, then the starting job should be up for grabs, but the potential is definitely there. I'm sure that's what Gregory sees and is his justification in keeping him as a starter. Hopefully, he can find some confidence along the way.

I too think he should playnow because if SOMEBODY doesn't get a 3 pter going we are going to be in deep chemshee in conf..

I feel like he has really regressed and I'm not sure how, he was one of my favorite players last year but he needs to come off the bench now, no way should he be starting or playing that many minutes.

His FG % is 23 for the year. Maybe he is shooting better in practice, and it's not translating to games. However, if his shooting in practice is this poor, he should not be averaging more than 22 minutes per game, which is where he is.

hope that's the case and the translation starts soon!

I think BG is still hoping that Bolden will snap out of it and his scoring comes alive again. Bolden was probably our most consistent scorer down the stretch last year, MGH would score in bunches but he was streaky. Bolden was consistently dropping 10-15 points a game the last 3rd of the season which is why I think BG still tries to get him going. Although I agree with everyone that he needs to sit and figure out whatever is going on with him, I don't know if its the mental aspect when he got suspended or what but he looks lost out there right now.
