Bobby Dodd Renovation in the NE Stands

I'm sure our stadium will look nice once this project is finished, but while it's under construction, that place is going to look odd. Kinda like talking to a pretty girl who is missing one of her front teeth. You know it's going to be replaced, but dang.

And they travel very fast with escorts. Had the Bama team pass me on I-20 after an $EC championship. I never knew the charter buses could travel so fast. With police escort they were topping 90.


NASCAR is a great example. Just have 2 drivers rotate and the trip is MAX 3 days to Cali from North Carolina. The team managers do fly with the team, but instead of heading to the hotel when they land, they head to the stadium to unload the trucks and set up the locker room. Plenty of YouTube videos document this. The big issue would be an ACC team having an away game on Saturday and then a Thursday night game in the opposite coast. But more than likely will just head from the away game to the other coast and do class online.

Of course, Hawaii (not a rich program by any standard) travels more miles than any team and I'm sure that is a source folks contact on how to do the logistics.

It's more complicated than that. The ACC almost did not admit Stanford because of this.

Clemson and Athens I agree with. Raleigh / Durham/ Chapel Hill you have obviously never been to before. The ‘ triangle’ is becoming the tech hub / Silicon Valley of the east. Raleigh and surrounding areas are growing at a staggering rate. Look it up.

Coming along. Honestly would look better if we went all the way and took out the entire upper section of the North stands, but I understand why they don't want to go that far. If that's removed the stadium looks much more clean/ symmetrical.

Agree. The thing is the new building won't be as tall as Edge, so will always look a bit this way...

Coming along. Honestly would look better if we went all the way and took out the entire upper section of the North stands, but I understand why they don't want to go that far. If that's removed the stadium looks much more clean/ symmetrical.

It would also level out the supply/demand curve for tickets. I believe it's an expensive endeavor though.

In the realm of realistic possibilities, I'd like to see the Upper North taken down and the South endzone turned into a terraced beer garden.

The other question I've not seen asked, for those in the camp who believe we need 55-60k seats, is why do we have to have any building in the NE corner compromising the stadium architecture? Couldn't we find another property nearby (or at least on campus) to host whatever facilities are planned for that space, separate from the boxes? The fact that Edge was put there doesn't mean we have to forever have a building in that spot...

I don't think there are any members in the camp who believe we need to expand Bobby Dodd or connect the North/Upper East stands. The only other realistic place to put a new Student Athlete Performance Center is along the Southwest edge of campus towards Northside Drive and that makes considerably less sense than the NE corner of BDS for proximity reasons.

If that's the case I would definitely agree with you that the best path forward would be minimal NEZ seating with something like a beer garden in the recovered space.

Probably closer to a fence situation than a rope situation, but yes - GTAA is not selling season tickets in 217, 218, or 219 for the upcoming season.

I drove by earlier today and the end of the removed area has a fence much like you have elsewhere on the stadium. They've also finished removing the support frame that was still standing in those recent photos. They look essentially done with all work on the stands themselves - still work to do on the concourse and I would guess the Edge will be fully removed by July 4th.

Except it is really tough to do a campaign for new monies to pay off debts. People are much more likely to contribute to new buildings/stadiums. I agree with you that debt is a big issue but it will have to come from general donations vs. directed towards a specific campaign.
