Belichick to UNC

I read he had written a 30 page plan for the football program. That's a lot of details to implement and three years to do do it. Not much has been said about his son being head coach in waiting. It was being negotiated.
I think you are missing a '0' - I believe it was a 300 page manifesto :ROFLMAO:

Only a three-year contract?

Pathway back to the NFL?

Mainstream media is now reporting the deal at 5 years, but not giving the money agreed to. When I posted this thread, it was based on a CBS article which included a link to the following X message from the Athletic:

CBS article has now been edited to say five year deal with no $ amount shown.

My guess is this hire isn’t only an attempt to win, but also a wink and smirk to the SEC and B1G as UNC tries to exit the ACC.

If you like the negative view of this move, you will love this article.

"It’s doubtful North Carolina will enjoy it as much as the rubbernecking outsiders. Belichick could win big and make it an awkward, miserable experience. He could win a little — in that eight-win range that defines most good seasons for the Tar Heels — and make it an awkward, miserable experience. Or he could be a disaster and make it an especially awkward, miserable experience."

I had that thought for a moment too. Big name and a big pledge to increase NIL = marketing scheme.
Maybe they will hang on to a guy like Gooff after all.

I take back what I said about Batt and UNC. It's possible this decision gets Cunningham fired, UNC becomes a dumpster fire of a job, and UNC makes a hire to "right the ship" and swoop in for Batt.
I realize that these guys believe that they can fix anything, but why would Batt want that job - even with "Momma calling". The Athletic Department will be a dumpster fire and the dysfunctional board will still be there. Would likely be a career killer....

I don’t know…
I think people like Gooff don’t even recognize their bull****. I don’t think it’s an act… he believes it.
It’s a razor thin line between being a bull****ter and being stupid. Maybe even thinner than the one between genius and insanity. At the end of the day, I suspect you are probably right about the guy.

Is Bill even going to make it to the next time Tech plays UNC? The guy will be 75! This is just keeps getting more and more confusing for me. Even if he is successful, they are just making the next hire even more critical and the timeline sooner.

What’s crazy about this is that I don’t think their ceiling for wins moved up all that much, but their floor just dropped significantly. They could very well have a 3-4 win season due to this move. And what’s even crazier is given the money they threw at it, they basically could have picked any head coach they wanted…and they landed on Bill. Just wow…
They have 3 wins baked in by virtue of OOC scheduling
