This is a ticking time bomb that could go off at any moment. A notorious control freak, who hates when anyone questions him and was known for berating everyone in the building in New England (even the owner and star QB), at a school with a bunch of entitled donors and SAs in the NIL era that could bolt any time they want....I mean, what could possibly go wrong?

I'm just glad they weren't smart enough to hire Jamey Chadwell.

Mark Packer and several guests on the ACC network believe Belichick's presence in the ACC will draw a lot of media exposure to UNC as well as the conference as a whole. There were also some comments about how much our current ACC coaches will be incentivized to beat the NFL GOAT.

The guy always looked to me like he had a permanent case of constipation. That scowl. Can't imagine him out recruiting and dealing with the NIL.
Of all the pro coaches I've seen, he seems the worst fit for college.
Besides that, I don't think he's that great a coach, anyway. He just got lucky enough to have Tom Brady under center.

The reality is today's college football is more akin to the NFL than anything else. Recruiting is now like free agency. Belechik can sell players on developing them for the NFL, while also being to drive donations to the NIL. Plus, not only does he know how to evaluate talent and coach, but slso he does not have a salary cap to limit his roater or any other rules he needs to follow like he did in the NFL. This will not be as bad as some of you think.

That's cute and all but the conference as a whole needs to invest a lot more money into NIL so they can get the best players.

But unlike the nfl, you’re having to do free agency for EVERY player EVERY year. You’re not dealing with the maybe 10-15 guys that are up for contracts. He is going to have to manage 105 18-22 year olds. He was extremely hard on rookies. Imagine what he is going to have to do the kids coming in now to have them fit his culture.

I have absolutely no idea how this will work out but I am absolutely fascinated by it. He was part of building a tremendously successful organization in New England. He was not happy how it ended and probably even less happy that he didn’t get one of the open positions last year. He wants to coach. He probably felt that was unlikely at the NFL level this coming season.

Perhaps he spent these months he’s been away from coaching reflecting on what he would do differently and with as much control as a college head coach has that may be right in his sweet spot. And who knows how he may relate to college players. That’s what is so interesting to me.

Belichick gets 3-year deal to Coach UNC.

"Bill Belichick will become the next coach of the North Carolina Tar Heels, sources tell CBS Sports NFL Insider Jonathan Jones. The six-time Super Bowl champion, who has never coached at the collegiate level in any capacity, will take over the top coaching position on the open market."

"Belichick agreed to a three-year, $30 million deal, according to The Athletic. Previous coach Mack Brown was paid $5 million per season."

Both of them, Belichick and UNC have lost their minds. UNC just went through one over the hill coach and now they are going to go that route again with someone who is not only old but never coached college football. OK, its your money.

New world.
I was trying to be sarcastic. The hardest thing in the world for a successful college football coach is to know when to quit and let the young dogs run the yard while you get on the porch. Bobby Bowdon did not know when or how to do it...Bobby Dodd did. Made a huge difference in their sunset years I would think. Coach Bowdon's family took the keys away from him sometime during that last year or so. Really sad.

Definitely agree. I took a look at the 247 Recruiting list by conference this morning and looked at the 4-star and 5-star players. When ACC teams improve the number of Blue-Chip players, the wins, consistency, perception, and preseason rankings will all improve.

SEC
4 stars--196---(12.25 Avg. per Team)
5 Stars---15-----(.94 Avg. per Team)

B1G
4 Stars---130---(7.22 Avg. per team)
5 Stars---- 8----(.44 Avg. per Team)

ACC
4 Stars---55----(3.24 Avg. per Team)
5 Stars----0

Big 12
4 Stars----38---(2.38 Avg, per team)
5 Stars-----0
