Here in these three articles, Baseball America "reranks" the 2008, 2009 and 2010 classes.
http://www.baseballamerica.com/college/revisiting-2010-recruiting-rankings/
http://www.baseballamerica.com/college/revisiting-2009-recruiting-class-rankings/
http://www.baseballamerica.com/college/revisiting-2008-recruiting-class-rankings/

Summary is that rankings for baseball, like star rankings for football are weakly predictive of later performance.
2010 - 17 of 25 classes are reranked in top 25 4 years later.
2009 - 16 of 25 classes are reranked in top 25 4 years later.
2008 - 13 of 25 classes are reranked in top 25 4 years later.

Who would've thought? I thought only in football did the development after HS throw a wild card into things (tic obviously).

2010 - GT 2010 recruiting class was ranked 7th and overall team produced at 17th level. Our ranking is hurt by poor post season performance. That may change this year!
"2010 rank: 7.
Recruiting coordinator: Bryan Prince.
BA All-Americans: Daniel Palka (2013 first team); Zane Evans (2013 third team).
Other key players: Kyle Wren, Mott Hyde, Dusty Isaacs, Matthew Grimes, Alex Cruz, Devin Stanton, Jonathan Roberts.
The bottom line: The biggest name in this class, DeAndre Smelter, never produced for the Jackets on the diamond; he’s now the football team’s top wide receiver, a testament to his considerable athletic ability. But this group still produced a pair of All-Americans in the slugging Palka and the invaluable two-way talent Evans. Hyde, Isaacs, Grimes, Roberts and Stanton stayed for four years and made four straight regionals, but the Yellow Jackets could never get over the hump into super regionals during that stretch."

2009 - Not ranked.

2008 - GT class was not ranked but overall the team produced at the 19th level. Here's what they said about the 2008 class:
"2008 rank: NR.
Recruiting coordinator: Bryan Prince.
Key players: Jed Bradley, Mark Pope, Matt Skole, Jake Davies, Jacob Esch, Brandon Miller.
The bottom line: This class never quite lived up to its talent, losing in regionals three years in a row. But that doesn't mean it didn't have talent, as Bradley, Pope, Skole and Miller (after transferring to Samford) would each wind up as top-five-rounds picks."

"This class never quiet lived up to its talent" a common theme with coach Hall's recruiting. He puts players in the pros but where is the hard ware? These articles are an indictment to Danny Hall and his staff. That 2010 class was supposed to be the class of all classes and see how it turned out. I fear we are in store of the same thing this year.

I've heard that a lot too and am disappointed by the failure we've had over the years in key CWS games. But I think it cuts both ways. Last year was a great coaching job by Hall and the staff to take a potential dumpster fire of a season and win an ACC championship. Hall does a great job of putting players into the pros and they like him. Beesball is our best (highest ranking) major varsity sport over the last 20 years.

I know I'm being defensive, but we don't really have a better option than Hall IMHO. So I just intend to enjoy the season and watch the team progress.

We aren't in for the same this year since we don't have the proven pitching. I don't think we have a rightful claim on the top 25 right now. The pitchers going to Vandy, UVa, Texas, Florida et. al. were much better pitchers in HS than our recruits. That doesn't mean we can't develop them, but it will take time.

Here's another article which supports what @up state jacket said, (but we are also projected here as a regional team)
"
OTHER PROJECTED REGIONAL TEAM

Georgia Tech’s super regional drought is even longer than Clemson’s—the Yellow Jackets haven’t won a regional since 2006. That’s a significant dry spell for a program that brings in quality talent year after year. The Jackets endured an up-and-down 2014 season and got hot at the right time, winning the ACC tournament to punch their ticket to regionals. The maturation of last year’s deep freshman class in the second half of season was an encouraging development heading into 2015. Two of those sophomores form a stellar left side of the infield, as SS Connor Justus boasts quick hands, outstanding range and instincts, while Brandon Gold has a rifle arm and good range at the hot corner. Another sophomore, Arden Pabst, is a physical catcher with an accurate arm, and the Jackets need all three to take steps forward at the plate. This group of Yellow Jackets is not as powerful as usual, but Gold and Matt Gonzalez bring strength to the gaps, while Sr. DH A.J. Murray (fresh off a Cape Cod League star turn) and heralded freshman 1B Kel Johnson bring serious home run power potential. CF Daniel Spingola will make the offense go thanks to his plus speed and mature offensive approach. Georgia Tech should be very good offensively and defensively, but its pitching staff is a major question mark. The weekend rotation could feature three lefties in Jonathan King (who missed most of 2014 due to injury), wily soft-tosser Devin Stanton and fellow command-and-control specialist Ben Parr. The biggest hole to fill is in the bullpen, where Sam Clay and Dusty Isaacs are gone."

Well, I'm sticking by what I said about us just having a long streak of bad luck which is going to change.:blackeye:

The decline is killing me. I grew up watch Cremins's first teams and Morris bringing Tech baseball alive. So seeing both sports be below par on a national stage is to me not right. We have good football program now, but when these two particular sports were our bread and butter for some time and now to see them is like I said not right. I will support the baseball team wholeheartedly, but my expectations have become more tempered. Settling is becoming a problem with these two sports at Tech.

Morris only made it to the Regional's 9 times in a row not reaching the CWS while at Tech. At Miami, 11 teams played in the CWS winning 2 of them.

Is it just a Georgia Tech thing (jinx?) or could be a combo of things that just happens in the game of baseball with some teams making the most of it from the gods. I do know this, a lot of teams would love be in our cleats despite what our fan's sometimes call a failure or disappointing post-season.

Is it frustrating, HELL YA! But our baseball program does have a better winning percentage than any other sports we have.

We are all disappointed to not do better in the CWS. But the team did win the ACC tourney last year. (After a 500 or so ACC season.)

I think the problem has been lack of pitching to carry us through the CWS with increased number of games. That's why Hall signed like 8-10 pitchers in the last two classes - way more than he did before. Again, I'll say that Heddinger leaving really hurt our experienced depth. But out of the 17 or so pitchers on roster, we should be able to get 4 good starters and at least 4 quality relief pitchers. Not UVa quality, but good enough for our D and hitting to get us to the Regionals (again). Then we need to catch fire for a change .....

It was still really good for a lot of our young guys to get playing time last season as pitchers
