Rookies make $200 per week and veterans make $225 per week. There is also a $50 bonus to each player on the winning team each week.

Playing for the love of the game. I presume they got day jobs. I think AFL salaries range from 30k to 80k. The AAF actually paid very well, maybe too well.

I’m assuming they get free housing and meals. The selling point of a league like this is the player gets real film, professional training, and live games. You get paid just enough to get by in terms of spending money, but you don’t have many expenses (assuming you aren’t married with kids yet). Most players will do this for a season or two and try and turn it into a CFL contract or another league that pays more.
