Medical Scholarship means he still gets the same scholarship but cannot compete and does not count towards the 85.
Medical redshirts aren't awarded until after eligibility is exhausted and they must be applied for. Griffin counts. The type of medical scholarship you are talking about is if he never plays another down.

If I read the AJC article correctly, Brigham will not compete again due to multiple incidents of concussion.

Nice read, @JacketFromUGA. You're right about the writer having missed a good opportunity by failing to include Tech in the article. Given all of the pre-season attrition the Jackets overcame last season and the late-season hits they endured with the loss of Snoddy, Zenon and Smelter to injuries, the writer had a golden opportunity to talk about chemistry allowing a team to accomplish greater things than the sum of its individual parts.

Maybe Ken Sugiura could take the idea and turn it into a Tech-centric piece for the AJC. Would make for fascinating reading if Ken interviewed insiders associated with the 1992 team that fell apart under B*** L****, and compared it with the 2014 team that came from the land of low preseason expectations to a State Championship over the Dwags and a near-blowout win in the Orange Bowl over another SECspeed team. Talk about polar opposites in team chemistry!

Ken: If you're lurking, get on it, man. :)
