currently in Carrollton, heading to Myrtle Beach. Need to blow through the ATL in the AM. When does traffic start getting bad?

My little brother went to school at UWG he says take 20 through the city all the way through. You can check google maps that morning to make sure there aren't wrecks but 20 should be better than groing around the southern loop of 285

If you have a smartphone the 511ga app is excellent.
On a Saturday morning you should have no troubles. Construction zones on I75 South in Conn County and I85 North in Gwinnett are the only trouble spots.

Waze app is even better. I don't know of any construction, but that's the only thing I'd expect to slow you down.

Ditto. I-20 straight through. Pay attention to the lane markings and signage as you go through the interchanges with 285 (both in and out) and with the connector. Other than that you should be speed limit+ the whole way.
