Any Fellow ACL Players Out There?

Based on the travel aspect, it sounds like it bit you harder than it bit me, but I play. I started playing in a local league a few years ago and love it. No real travel for me though. Bunch of leagues around here at breweries, neighborhood retail centers, etc. If I were to win more, there would potentially be travel involved! :D

Once I started, I decided I needed to actually practice so I used the excuse to build some “GT” boards (fun project with my teenage sons)…
Still play every week!
You around Atlanta? I've been running CornholeATL leagues since 2016.

Nice! I usually run (and play in) the CornholeATL Sweetwater league. Have won state in advanced a few times. I used to play in the NGCA regionals out that way too back when I was playing ACL.
Well, if you’re winning state titles in advanced, more than geography has kept us from crossing paths!
Intermdiate + is where I am currently and my prowess has not taken me on the road. :D

I remember when the GCs first came out - they were literal game changers and I loved them. Won some money at my first couple of Conferences throwing them. Back then there was just Advanced (Wooten, Rawls, Malone, Cheyenne, a bunch of those other FLA pros threw), Competitive (where I threw and at the time against now pros like Sarah Cassidy, Tyler Cobb, and a few more), and Social.

Fast forward to today, I HATE GCs. WAY too floppy for me once they're broken in. I like a firmer bag and I throw a pretty low and hard bag, so I'm mostly a carpet guy. I throw BG Sorcerers more than anything, but also mix in some Wizards, Noble Livids, and a few other carpets here and there. I had a lot of success with Surefires when they first came out too, so they'll always have a special place in my game and will get broken out every once in a while.
I do throw some Wizzies as well. They are my herring bone bag. It’s usually my last ditch effort to things under control, I just have a hard time getting them to travel. My throw cuts left to right, similar to playing a slice in golf.

I played my weekly switch Monday night and got knocked out by a bag going for a sled ride on my bag, threw mine off the side and kicking directly into the hole. Couldn’t do anything but laugh.

After a little over a year I finally podium’ed at regionals last weekend. Took the king seat in intermediate singles and then got dipped. Sat for too long waiting for the bracket to work out.

Can’t rush it, it’ll come eventually. I used to mess with my grip a lot but figured out it was my release that was the issue. Starting to come together after a lot of frustration

I have the opposite problem. I can't get anything faster than herringbone to stop. I like to play a block and roll/replace game. For about two years my practice area was a covered porch, so my throw got lower and lower to avoid hitting the ceiling and now I have a hard time adjusting it back to get any kind of slower pace on the bag. \\

Sometimes if I know I can just out throw somebody running bags, I'll switch to a pro sniper, but that's about the only time I'll throw a faster bag.

That’s the truth! When I’ve had the most success in tournaments I’ve been seeded middle of the pack, played a lower team to open and then caught the top seeds after their opening round bye.
It’s tough to come in cold against someone who has been throwing.

Funny because I tried throwing under my porch the other day when it was drizzling. I thought surely it was high enough to get some practice in… I was way wrong. No matter how I tried, I put most of the bags into the ceiling. I just quit and will wait for dry weather.

I have a set of 724 Bloodmoney Bags and those are a madman bag. You can throw those off the back in hurricane rain.

I’m throwing Brotherhood Wingman L’s pretty exclusively these days (6/8)

West GA Cornhole (parent company of Titan Bags) used to always run a Jekyll and Slyde (10/0) tournament after their big Baggin Bash tourny. There also used to be fundraisers that would do all SlideRite or all Pro Advantage. I miss tournaments like that.

They're on the 5th iteration of the bag now:

I had the first iteration. The fast was like glass and was impossible to keep on the board and the slow was like a dimpled rubber that immediately grabbed the board and stopped.

Here's their video showing the first iteration vs third iteration a few years back:

First bags I ever bought were gladatiors and they had that suede type material on the slow side.

We put ‘em on a board with some wizzies last summer and picked the board up, the BGs slid off around 25-30 degrees, the Gladiators held right there till about 75 degrees. Pretty wild
