He really looked fast and disruptive on that TFL I saw. Will be interested to see how Boomer rates his game.

The D played a very smash mouthed game start to finish. To me, it looked like GT D was better prepared and focused against Clemson's O.

Got all the tools to be a good pass rusher.

Showed his quickness vs Clemson...also made a good play where he didn't bite on the option and flushed the runner outside where he and PJ Davis cleaned it up.

Got to see him from east stands. Looked like he was playing in place of 41.
AS did good job setting edge and disengage then pursue. Keep his head up, arms extended - when clearly a pass got good push while staying in lane. Looked very good . I don't believe he only weights 190. He looks like he can run and could play lb.

It's a shame we couldn't redshirt him this year to physically develop, but that's the situation the staff had to deal with. DE is going to be LOADED the next few years.

Cant wait to see how his and Lorenzo Carters', the heralded 5 star at ugag, careers play out. No way a 2 star player can play as good as a 5 star ugag player, or so they say... Sarcasm aside, I do not think they are that different of players.

Uh...isn't he 230 lbs?

I think that it is also a shame that he wasn't able to get more reps earlier in the season. IIRC, he came in for one play against VT and got a penalty. After that, I don't think that we saw him again until last week, or maybe at UVA. I think he is going to be a huge play maker down the road. Wish we had redshirted Merriweather and gave more reps to Antonio.

Its unfortunate that we have so many young DEs in or near the same class with high potential. For the good of the team and the playing time for the players, either Simmons or Merriweather need to RS next year. Next two years we have Freeman, Rook, Whitehead, Simmons, and Merriweather. With Freeman locking down one side there is not enough playing time for the other 4. And for next year you could use Gamble, JHD, or Gotsis at SDE.

As I said in an earlier thread, he reminds me of Marco Coleman.

Like Coleman, he had an unbelievable senior season in HS (29 sacks!). Like Coleman, he's a tween: too small to contribute at DE soon and too big to be a good LB candidate. And, so near as I can see, like Coleman, we were the only team at our level that was really interested. I was very glad to hear that he had chosen us and, while filling Coleman's shoes might be a bit much to ask, he just might do it. I sure hope so.

I consider if fortunate after what we have been through lately.

You could have a really strong rotation of DE/OLB's for the next 3 seasons. JHD if he's eligible will be a senior. Star/Rook/Whitehead Juniors. Freeman/Merriweather/Simmons will all be seniors the year after. If we can get the DT situated we'll have a stout DLine rotation.

Heck next season we could have a Top 30 D.
