AJC recruit article

Check the author's bio to determine if there might be some bias.
I don’t think he meant “bamboozled”. From the flow of what he’s saying, it looks more like he was dazzled or overwhelmed. (It’s also looking like he’ll flip)

If he’d been lied to or tricked, I’d expect a quote in that direction

Here is the quote

When Dinkins chose Tech in June, he felt it was imperative to lock in with a program.

“I was kind of bamboozled with it being my first [official visit]” he said. “I was really shaky on the idea and I just jumped into it.”

But also he is trying to justify why he is flipping to Georgia. When he committed to us, UGA hadn't offered him. A lot of the men we are recruiting could go up in rankings and drawing interest from other schools. If we are recruiting promising athletes, this is going to happen.

I think we need a RB that is bigger than 190 lbs and can break tackles and get yards after contact. Running JH inside the tackles too much is asking for injury even if not season ending. JH needs a crease to get yards and is really good in space. IMO Dontae made a difference last year when he got back into the rotation. We have used Pyron in a lot of goal line plays. Everyone in the stadium knew he was going to run it up the middle when he came in. He has the size needed to run it inside for short yardage. Put a big RB in there with him---- but oh yeah we don't have one.
Well … Tech does have Maddox (215 program weight), but he's hurt. Alexander was out for VT and that was a game changer, imho. He can do it inside or out and is perfect for spelling Haynes. Is he a Dontae? Well, not really (not as fast), but he's close. Hope he's healthy for da U.

Yep. Mistook "bamboozled" for "dazzled." No ill intent there, it seems.

We could have used him this season for short yardage if nothing else. Hopefully he can hang onto the ball. Overall our backs have done a good job at ball security this year.

How about "GT is a cool place and I appreciated the offer but now I have seen some other cool places and have to make a decision" is that so hard??? No he had to say that he committed by MISTAKE because he was confused....yeah real great endorsement...

This ^^^

The quote
“I was kind of bamboozled with it being my first [official visit]” he said. “I was really shaky on the idea and I just jumped into it.”

So he was either dazzled or doesn't understand commitment and was looking for anything to grab ahold of.

I don’t think it was intended as an endorsement. Seems to me it was an explanation. Neither an endorsement nor a criticism.

Of course it was not an endorsement...that was my whole point...it was a criticism or at least a dismissal...did not commit because he thought GT was a great place...he was just confused.

He’s a kid. They don’t always communicate well, let alone think fast on their feet.

Oh, don’t be silly. He is not a kid, he’s a football player. I’m sure his school spent loads of time with him over the past couple of years, training him in public relations, communication skills, and etiquette.

Lol. Ok. I’m not arguing about him being a student athlete and all that…just talking about his time on Earth. 18 years olds are just not very wise.
