These are 18-20 year-old kids. Toss a sack of money in front of them and they’re gone.

We're all 30's, 40's, 50's (and more) adults. Toss a sack of money in front of us and we're gone too.

Not sure why some of us pretend like that's not the case ....

Eta. To be clear, that's a shot as someone else and not you s78. I'll save my shots for you for later. ;)

I think we're bitter bc no one ever tossed sacks of money at us tbh so we pretend to believe we would act differently. I changed jobs frequently to get an extra 3% plus free parking and/or free coffee and donuts in the break room. Of course, I also understood compounding interest. ;)

Any time you feel froggy, kg01. 😛

Many times I’ve turned down jobs for more money because it wasn’t the right timing, didn’t like the culture, the location, etc. There are good reasons to turn down money.

I’ve had sacks of money tossed at me multiple times. Very small sacks, but still sacks….

These two things (money and starting/playing time) are NOT mutually exclusive events. Players are looking to maximize both these days. I can't fault them for that.
Alright, so fair is fair...do not ask me for a donation or collective until I get to see the roster...

Hopefully our scouting team is on point. We’re not going to be in the running for top dollar transfers. I think we’ll see more of what’s worked for us so far: experienced players that can fill a need for a year or two and back fill with solid recruiting classes.

Whaaat? You didn't forgo the 3% to stay and "build something special" instead of "chasing tha money"?

Oh, of course. We all ... well the high level ones among us... get offered more money and money alone isn't the only deciding factor. I just find folks disingenuous when they deride these kids for making decisions to leave based on their own criteria.

I have as well 78. However, that was later on in life as I learned what was important and what was not. TBH, the first job I accepted out of Tech was one that didn't feel right in my gut but was the at or near the highest $$$ offer a bachelor's degree in engineering could expect to get coming out of Gt at the time. (Full disclosure: got out in '81, most offers I received were right around 20k give or take. I accepted one for $24k and thought I was rich. I am not saying I came up poor but this kind of money was unimaginable to my parents at the time). Bottom line - you and I know that money isn't the be all and end all. But we learned that the hard way. By jumping at the highest offers. Bythe time I was in my late 30's or so, I became aware that there were other factors to take into consideration. But these were things I learned only through personal experience.

These kids are as dumb as we were when we were 19 - 21. And they will be as smart, and probably smarter, than us when they get to our age. I think we hurt bc we want to pass along the lessons we learned the hard way but each generation seemingly has to learn certain lessons on their own. Sadly enough. IMO, this is why the 'human condition" such as it were improves at a glacier pace while the easy *** (the technology and such) advances at a more exponential pace.

This is not a long term career decision. Its two years tops. I can put up with a less than ideal situation for a year or two for the right money, as long as I believe it still sets up for the next step in my career goals. So if a coach or a school I don't like offers me a substantial raise and gives me the opportunity to showcase my talent then it would be hard to pass up.

And yes singleton had a few drops, Rutherford had some really costly drops as well, I would prefer neither leave. Drops are part of the game. Ask ugas receivers...

This may be why playing over there looks attractive to ANY receiver, not just ES. Those people catch the FB as if they were allergic to pigskin. Honestly. I'm not sure that I couldn't help that WR room out even at my age. It was shocking to see (and not just our game either fwiw) such a display at a school like Uga with their resources. Athletic talent is nice but does not replace the ability to actually catch a FB.
