Well, as of today, 1/16/2025, subject to change after the Spring Portal and other stragglers.

"at least 40 new players on his 2025 squad by the time kickoff rolls Aug. 30 in Boulder, Colorado. Key signed 23 high school seniors in December and has nearly 20 college transfers (none of whom have been officially announced by Tech at this point) pledged to become Yellow Jackets for next season."

Chad's synopsis by position -

I don’t begin to understand eligibility anymore, but I wouldn’t see how….

20- Covid
21- frosh
22 - soph
23 - junior
24 - senior

🤷🏼‍♂️🤷🏼‍♂️
Looking into it a little more this morning, I believe he still has a year available if he wants it. 2020 he played 2 games, so he gets a redshirt. On top of that he gets the Covid year. So I believe he can get a 6th year in the 2025 season.

Perhaps this is what you are saying, but 2020 doesn't count regardless of how many games he played. If he sat enough in one of the 2021 - 2023 seasons to claim a redshirt then he would have one more season. That is likely how he has one more year, but I haven't dug into the details of games played in those seasons for him.

Not on Chad's report is Landon Shaffer

"Landon Shaffer, a senior at East Paulding High School, posted to X, formerly Twitter, that he plans to join the Yellow Jackets for the 2025 season. Shaffer (5-foot-9, 150 pounds) previously committed to Rice and reportedly was offered a scholarship by Tech in December.

At East Paulding, Shaffer had 56 touchbacks on 60 kickoffs in 2024, made 38 of 39 extra-point attempts and 14 of 18 field-goal attempts with a long of 53. ProKicker.Com and Ray Guy Kicking Camp rate Shaffer as five-star kicker and four-star punter."

He doesn't have another year. 6 games in 21, 7 in 22, 13 the last two years. Unless he got an exception for some reason, or maybe maybe still gets his 4 games for a "redshirt" year, although keeping a guy on the roster who can only contribute for 4 games seems a waste of a spot imo.

So does he compete for the '25 season?
