The sad thing is Dook is actually a pretty good football team capable of beating just about anyone on a given day. They just poop the bed too often. I’m mean, we’re pi$$ed that GT lost to two P4 bowl teams we should have beaten. Dook lost to two G5 teams… plus 3 P4 teams! Yeesh!

With a 7 million dollar QB no less!

My theory has been the the ACC is a vampire league...it has sucked the blood out of every formerly good program that has entered. The theory of a rising tide raises all ships does not apply in this case. In fact, it is the opposite it seems.

We’re 100% at fault for this situation. Take care of business and you don’t have a weak dook team facing a paper tiger in uva in a major Conference Championship Game.

This is not basketball where we all look forward to Cinderella teams nobody’s even heard of pulling off massive upsets because 6-7 pound puppies got out of rehab and by chance joined the same obscure program in a one stop light town and takes down Kentucky on a freak shot.

I’d argue we’d all be happy with a true Cinderella story in football, but the 5 team tie crap allowing this team to sneak in doesn’t make it feel earned and makes it feel like a complete fluke. If Duke was 9-4 and went 0-4 in non conference against formidable opponents and then went 8-0 in the ACC, and win the championship to go 9-4, I think that would be a nice Cinderella comeback story. An 8-5 team that lost to two G5 teams and got in thanks to a 5 team tie is a Make-A-Wish kid, not Cinderella.

IMO Duke went out and took care of business and won the ACC and they should be in the playoffs. The CFP committee is going to pander to the SEC and Big 10 regardless of what the conference championship rules are in the ACC they always have.

The BB tournament is run by the NCAA. The CFP is run by the SEC and B1G.

You guys talk about the ACC dragging good teams down, how do you think the good players on Miami, GT, and Pitt are feeling right now? If I were them, I'd be thinking that I'm putting in a hell of a lot of effort just to get dismissed by the CFP committee because the ACC is a joke. Don't think they aren't thinking that and with free transfers and NIL, why wouldn't the good ones better their situation? 9-3 Bama getting in over Miami would be the nail in the coffin for many. That it's even a talking point is bad enough.

OTOH, every one who lifted a trophy yesterday paid for theirs as well. The case could be made that maybe they were the ones who managed their investments better than the teams who didn't??

The good news is we are just a few years away from major realignment.
Key/Alpert/Cabrera have a bigger challenge than just winning games, it’s making GT an attractive program, not only for B1G/Sec pick me status, but in case that doesn’t happen, to be in the other power conference, whatever it may be.

If we are still left after the ACC dissolves, we need to join with whomever is left that cares about football and make sure we don’t end up with the North Carolina schools again.

Why cant u just rank 1-12 and play them off and stop with the dei participation trophies. My god. If a group of 4 team looks good. Goes undefeated. And finishes in the top 12 then great. They are in. If not. Who f cares. They are not a top 12 team.

We want the top 12 best to playoff. Its not hard.

Hell. I will make it easier. Just play the top 12 off and have vegas seed them. They are the best seeding and ranking organization in the world

Let's don't over do being left out. The conference loses some money I suppose but it's not the end of the world. The ACC is an entertaining conference to watch. You never know what will happen next is how I would spin if I were Phillips. Miami should get in but won't.

This looks like a winner. Miami would be better than Alabama at #10. The Committee's bias will keep Alabama in though!

The ACC needs to find a way to get Penn St and ND to join the conference.

I remember saying this years ago. Now I’m not so sure that their joining wouldn’t relegate them to endless mediocrity.

I recall Bobby Bowden saying many years ago that the ACC teams needed to move up to the FSU level and that FSU wasn't planning to drop down to the ACC level. It took about 30 years,
but FSU eventually found the ACC level.

The same poll you would want to use today to pick 12 had Texas as #1 a few months and had FSU and Clemson ranked highly. They were wrong then and could be wrong right now. That’s why eventually when the playoffs expand we’ll have auto bids just like every other sport has and every team will know in August exactly what they have to do to get in. But for Mr. Jim Phillips and his league this will be the 2nd time his champion gets left out while no other conference has ever had that happen. Phillips is a joke and hopefully someone wants a team in Atlanta.

I recall Bowden didn’t want the SEC. He knew that the ACC was an easier path for his program. Seeking the path of least resistance is never a winning move. Karma is a real ***** as they say. His move is on the same level as us leaving the SEC or us declining an invitation to the B10.

Nope. Cfp isnt a poll preaseason. And the cfp selections are very similar to march madness selections from the standpoint of a committee picking seedings and who is in front of who. This happens all the time in ncaa. Same with baseball. Nothing is automatic. Even if the field was 18 teams they still need to be determined at some level within the 18. Just like from 8-12 or so need to be determined now.

Its very easy. Take the top 12 teams at seasons end and play them off. And let vegas decide who that is. NCAA will never settle it on the field due to the amount of teams and conferences. So u need some selective process
