They got their *** kicked by ND. If you think Pitt held back, well that is funny! ND is simply a much better football team than Pitt!
The dude pretty much said it straight out without saying it jn so many words: The ND game is not a conference game and doesn’t really matter to where we’re trying to get. Conference games matter.

Now whether or not they lightened up on their ND focus and spent extra time prepping for GT, we don’t actually know, but having watched both games it sure looked like it.

I think what the Pitt coach was suggesting is that their game prep has been for ACC games, and especially Tech. They played just as hard against ND but the prep and game packages they worked on were for Tech. It showed.

Edited to add: This is not unusual for Tech. During the CPJ tenure a certain Duke coach every year would show very little in the game prior to Tech but would spend two weeks or more prepping for Tech’s offense. I think option read offenses almost demand it. But it creates uneven performances in the opposing team’s record, unless you are Georgia and have enough talent to prepare all year for Tech and still have something left for other teams.

Miami needs style points right now. They are on the CFP bubble and those style points are their only real hope for getting in should a 1 loss team lose on rivalry weekend.
They are 12th now. BYU is 11 with 1 loss. Then there are 3 blue bloods ahead of them with 2 losses...Alabama, Notre Dame and Oklahoma (Notre Dame has Stanford, Oklahoma has LSU and Alabama has Auburn). I just don't see a path for Miami to get in Top 10 which they need since both the ACC Champ and Group of 5 will be ranked lower and take up 11 and 12.

Narduzzi literally said the week before the ND game he didn't care if ND scored 100. The important game was the week after ND.

I'll concede the "SEC Narrative" & PR machine is annoying & it does seem to give them exactly what they're seeking... which is marginal advantages (that matter) & benefits of doubts when relatively similar teams' resumes are compared.

That said... one (not the only) reason it continues & we have thousands of similar whiny posts here on an ACC team's forum is the Narrative is largely true & pretty difficult to refute ... in general terms.

The SEC wins more games over time v other P4 conferences. People attempt to refute that evidence with parsed out evidence. Ultimately, it impossible to compare a collection of 16 ACC teams against another collection of 16 SEC teams when most of the 32 don't play an inter-conference game.

In 2025, 7 ACC teams play 8 SEC teams.

It's the chicken or the egg kind of deal. The SEC gets a billion or so in free advertising every year and fifteen teams in the top 25 (6 in the top 10) every preseason. So their losses are better losses and their wins are better wins.

That’s The Narrative and how it works to their advantage. The media “partner” guarantees it, but they’re supposed to be our partner, too. They just gaslight us….

Miami gets the ball to start the 2nd half. If they can get a TD there and run away to a similar final score as ND-Pitt, they can really make the committee’s life hell. Especially since this is an ACC game that Pitt actually took seriously 😉

Miami has underachieved. They have the most talent of any ACC Team.
