Just to re-emphasize what others have said... all this hosting (or not) talk is not like the football playoff/rankings where committee plays hand for weeks prior to selections.

It's all in context & referencing what D1 & other pubs project. None has an actual say in the final selection.

My opinion ... based on committee make up of college coaches & ADs... Ga Tech's P4 regular season championship & 40 wins means enough to the committee. They don't have same baggage the pundits carry.

I still predict a higher seed than most project. 12-13 seed.

Tennessee is jumping someone after that win. Hope its not GT
Problem is too many fall into this "sec is the greatest conference in the history of the game" mindset.

Texas ATM , who sucks btw, beat the Barn
Okie knocks off national seed mutts
Good for Tn but they haven't earned a 1 seed.

Stop falling for this trap set by the media.

Narrative is clear by media. Sec is a brutal conference. Any team can win. That's true 0-24 Missouri swept that VAUNTED Texas ATM who beat the Barn today.

California beats two good teams in Miami and Wake but the media narrative. Acc sucks.

I’m glad Tennessee won today. I want Florida or Ole Miss and then a Super against whoever beats UGA in the regionals ;)
I saw Duke projected in the Athens regional and mark my words. Duke wins that regional if that happens.

Duke has pitching, hitting, and defense. Just like uva, if they get in, they will both be very dangerous.

Uga is a paper tiger and the weakest of the national seeds imo.

Little pitching depth and a bunch of hr or strikeout hitters

So hosting a super is still out of reach?
I’d gotta think winning the ACC tourney would get us there, especially if the championship is over a top-6 FSU or UNC. I get RPI and all that, but idk how you don’t have the ACC regular and tournament champ be the top ranked ACC team in that scenario.

Would certainly be nice to have a W over Auburn or uga since we’ll likely have to jump both of them to get top-8, but I still think winning ACC tournament would give us enough momentum compared to their early SEC tourney exits

I think it’s out of reach unless we win the ACC. I think it would be tough to leave us out over other ACC teams after we win the regular season and conference tourney though. Supposedly the committee is supposed to take injuries into account and playing without two of the best hitters in the conference (Schmidt and Lodise) for long stretches was significant. And to still win the league and then back it up in tourney?

Personally, I think we’re pretty clearly the best team in the conference when healthy. We have the best lineup by far and our staff is amongst the best. I think if we win the tourney we sneak into a seed.

Top-8 is a bit of a reach, but not impossible. Winning the tourney would put any complaints of "they ain't played nobody" to bed, at least. We would have finished the season with two ranked series wins, then beat Clemson, then beat (probably) a top #10 UNC or FSU.

IMO top-8 is off the board, even if we win the ACC tournament. Were we to get a top-8 it would be another example of the NCAA committee giving us a seeding higher than the metrics say we should have gotten.
If we really knew the metrics, perhaps I'd agree. We don't. Let's say...how well a team performed in May and their conference tournament is the dominant metric, then Ga Tech (after winning the conference tournament) would be a top 8 team... wouldn't it?

We assume we know what the committee cares about... I listened to the committee chairman interviewed by the D1 guys. He was all over the place on what they consider important... including his emphasis on the "eye test" ... if you apply what he said to the entire field, there is no way to apply a metric or set of metrics that would 'eliminate' the possibility Ga Tech would be a top 8 seed.

Leaving a team that won both the regular season and ACCT crown out of the top 8 would be wild.

The chairman also said they emphasize how you do in your conference, so I would think winning both of the crowns of the conference would go a long way.

Why does it matter what we think? The team needs to beat Clem. We are not the team.

Yeah that kind of comment is the most puzzling thing people post on message boards. It’s the entire point of the board. Like maybe you could argue it should be in a different thread, but it’s also relevant to how other ACC teams have done and will be seeded relative to Tech.

So…don’t read the board if you only want to concern yourself with winning the next game?

I'm entertained quite a bit by those kinds of comments. Its similar to being accused of jinxing something by simply mentioning it. WE (random participants on a message board) NEED to stay focused on the game... not get distracted by all this nonsense we can't control. :)
