I’m catching up on other games.

Did anyone see the ending to Illinois / Rutgers? Rutgers led 31-30 with the Illini lining up for a long FG (57 yards). Rutgers coach calls a timeout to ice the kicker. After the timeout, Illinois rethinks the decision and goes for it on 4th and long and scores the game winning TD.

I find the icing the kicker timeout interesting. I personally don’t like them since sometimes the timing of calling them offers a free practice kick.

I do wonder if there’s any statistical difference one way or another for using a timeout to ice the kicker.

Texas, Clemson, Ohio State, Miami, SMU, and Tennessee looked really good today.

Teams not looking so good are Penn State, Mississippi, Georgia, BYU and Colorado.

Does it matter?

Will depend on the Alabama, Texas A&M, and Notre Dame games.

While unlikely, Army defeating Notre Dame could really make things interesting. Going one step further, if both Army and Boise win out, there could be two G5s in the CFP and a P4 left out completely. If Kansas and Arizona State hold on, the Big 12 should be nervous.

Anybody watching Stanford-Cal? Entertaining game, but there is almost zero speed on these teams. Definitely not SECspeed!

ETA: Cal just scored to go ahead 24-22. Now they have to stop Furd.

Shaping up for a crazy end to BYU and ASU….
Officials may put a second back.
Have to clear the fans off the field and BYU Hail Mary is on the way

The ‘end game’ for ASU was ridiculous. Second and goal at the 3. They deliberately lost about 46 yards to shave a few seconds instead of trying to go up two scores. And all to now give BYU a shot at a game winning hail mary.

Auburn is pummeling Texas A&M in the second quarter. It’s very in-Hugh-Freeze-like.

With BYU and Colorado losing, the Big12 might be down to one CFP team—the conference champ.

I think Ole Miss might have just fallen out of the race. Indiana might drop a lot. If the rest of the weekend has more upsets and rivalry week goes the right way, maybe two ACC teams play.

Honestly, the best thing happening for the Big 12 is that ND looks like they are gonna pummel Army (unfortunately).
If Army looked like they could compete, the Big 12 champ might have been sitting behind the Black Knights and Boise.

Add that Okie is really outplaying Bama and just can’t put points on the board. If they can get in the endzone, the tide might be in trouble too.
