Nope, he didn't. He got Tommy John in High School his senior year. Came to campus in January and was recovering and throwing program this year. It's a 12-18 month process. A total GRIND!

That's tough for the kid. As with any GT man, hope everything works out great for him down the road.

Did he ever play at ND? Here's his Baseball Cube info and only Samford stats. And not exciting. But we did really well last year with transfers so there is something more than these stats obviously. But his dad did play at GT, thus the welcome home

I think we also got an infielder from Wofford by the name of John Dempsey who hit .356 last year as a starter. And a catcher from Tennessee who redshirted last year by the name of Nathan Smith (played for the East Cobb Astros).

Nice write up on Frye (at Mercer now) in D1 Fall Report

Sophomore Georgia Tech transfer Bradley Frye is a breakout player to watch at second base. Mercer recruited him out of high school but lost out to Georgia Tech initially, so Gibson is excited to have him in the fold. He didn’t see much time with the Yellow Jackets last season, but he was pretty effective at the plate in a small sample, going 6-for-14 with five RBIs and more walks (3) than strikeouts (2).

Frye is likely the shortstop of the future at Mercer, but the shortstop of the present is sixth-year senior Trevor Austin (.272/.366/.353 in 2022), who has more than 700 plate appearances under his belt in the program. He’s coming off of a big summer in the Northwoods League, where he batted .305 with a .445 on-base percentage and nearly twice as many walks (48) as strikeouts (27).
