Since there's been some discussion about women's softball, here's the wrap up from the two games this year to start off the column. (Mods can leave here or move to other sports, could make teh baseball / softball forum like basketball)

GT wallops Villanova 11-0. Then beats St Joesph's 8-5. Moved to 4-0.

Wanted to watch the end of the last game but it wasn't on ACCNX and couldn't find it. Can tell it's more than time for baseball. Oh well. St Joes was up 5-4 in the T4 so no cakewalk. http://stats.statbroadcast.com/statmonitr/?id=387662

That had a great series with FSU (#3). Took em to the 12th the other night. It was another solid performance by the ladies!!! Great Grit! They lost the 3rd game by 1. Nice destroy of GA today!!

I’m admitting my ignorance, but I wasn’t even aware that there was a slaughter rule in NCAA Softball. The game in Athens only lasted five innings

This softball team may be 0-6 in the ACC but they were swept by two Top 20 teams and the games were close and competitive. Now they get this win...maybe it's a breakthrough for this team.

Certainly looks like the arc of the program is headed in the right direction! Excited for the ladies.

I watched both Friday games and attended the Sunday game against FSU, if they would have swung at the first pitch it would have been a different series. I think Sunday there were 6-7 at bats where the first pitch was a ball. The majority were right down the middle. They batted from behind the whole game and lost by 1. They have a good team who is almost there.

Was a great season and better than they have had in a while. Can't wait till they play again. Excited to see the future of the Softball program.
